I fucking hate Kratos on every level. Button mashing and killing are fine, I enjoy it myself, but Kratos is morally repugnant to me. I'm going to quote a post I made on another forum about him,

Seconding/Thirding/Numbering the hate for Kratos as a character. I find him completely unlikable on any level whatsoever, and some of the shit he does bothers my moral compass and sets off alarms in my head that this is not someone I should be rooting for, ever. It makes any fun the games might have had for me go completely down the drain. The things i enjoy most in video games are setting, characters, and stories, and they really just fucking blew it with Kratos.

Besides the fact he's a big, buff, grunty bald guy (we sure don't have enough of those in games already by golly) and full of MANLY RAGE and doesn't afraid of anything and whatnot, he's got no respect for women. This I find to be the worst aspect of him.

He feels bad because of what he did to his wife and kid. This is why he sets out for revenge. I could have liked him just fine had he stayed focused on this, but instead he desecrates their honor and any chance he had at redeeming himself in my eyes by going around and fucking anything with ovaries and tossing them by the wayside. I get it. We're supposed to be in awe of his manliness, but this just comes off as typical frat boy HUR DUR I SLEPT WITH 275 WIMMINS MY SOCIAL STATUS IS PRO NOW. His wife and child's spirits must be completely ashamed of him.

Which isn't even historically accurate. They were largely gay back then and would create relationships with young boys so they would protect each other better in battle. Women were only used to procreate. Which, mind you, isn't a good view of women either, (it's fine to not like them sexually/romantically but not okay to treat them, or anyone really, like lesser beings) but it'd make a lot more sense seeing as what time and country he's supposed to be from. They didn't even do the research! He's just a stereotypical he-man frat boy's mary sue fantasy. I cannot get behind him or support him at all. The only way you'll see me enjoying a GoW game is by throwing him off cliffs about fifty-eleven times before getting bored and putting in a game with actual value in.

I enjoy some completely fucked-up morally characters. I can be considered morally fucked-up by some, myself. But damn, dude, Kratos is just bland and disrespectful. He has no real motivation or reason anymore, and without that, he's just a shell filled with disgusting tropes being passed off as cool.

Sorry. Next game, please.

Maybe I'm thinking too hard about this, but goddamn he is a sleaze of the worst kind. Sorry, but I require more quality in my heroes.


Anyways, I just got back from the renaissance faire and I have a huge blister on my right foot.
