Riviera
Sonic Rivals 2
I would not fully.
Riviera for PSP is a pretty lame conversion, with ugly sprites, the music gaining technical quality but losing the charm of the other two versions, somewhat annoying loadings times etc... Though you have to decide for yourself if you want to put up with that in exchange for fully voiced everything, more cgs and hi-res character portraits.
Sonic Rivals 2 I actually found worse than its predecessor. It improved on it in quite a few ways, with better graphics, better level design and nifty thinsg like a free run mode, but it also adds so much shit that it negates all these advantages. there'd be the story mode which you now have to beat EIGHT times to fully complete everything, and while doing so you have to control 2 characters in each story that you have to switch between every second stage. They still play all the same though, bar the special attacks. Then there'd be the equally pointless any annoying character 1-on-1 battles (and variations of it) after every first Act, the levels that kind of lack a bit of the charisma of Rivals 1's (especially the haunted mansion and wild west Zone sare weird, while the casino stage basically takes and mixes stuff of every casino stage before it and the last Zone is a carbon copy of Sonic 06's Crysis City) and the way the special attacks work now makes a little more sense but having to continuously smash the square button to extend their duration is quite irritating. Apropos button-smashing, a lot of usually unavoidable gimmicks in the level require you to do so, which is quite annoying. Overall the levels are a bit too laden with such things.
Anyway, yeah. It's not that bad but I'd suggest getting Rivals 2 first.
