I just heard that a 36 GB Flash drive was made recently. They're really getting high up there.. and perhaps the rumours that flash drives will replace Harddrives will come true :P

Is this thread about flash drives? Well, its interesting technology.
Though the seek time is none, transfer speeds are at the moment, lower than traditional drives resulting is less performance. This could change in the future though. For right now, cost of a flash drive is approx 5 times more expensive than conventional (That's in terms of cost per Gigabyte). Flash drives are much more shock-resistant than conventional drives. That's great, but only matters in notebook applications. Reliability information on flash drives is scarce. So in summary, flash drives are too expensive and don't offer enough advantages over conventional technology.

Flash drives might never catch up to conventional, or it might happen in five years! You never know.
