For all those who live on the east coast of the U.S. there was yet another shcool shooting today, at Virigina Tech College, and according to the news there were at least 31 deaths not counting the shooters suicide, the police have not yet released a name though they have an idea who done it. Of course most of the U.S. residents know about this already since the news has been all over it all day, but that brings up the still un-answered question of why, which in turn will no doubt result in some form of blame on the violent nature of american movies, games, etc.

On a side note this attack happened almost exactly 8 years after the columbine shootings(April 20, 1999)

Penny for your thoughts?

Honestly, it kind of pissed off everyone. But I've heard the moivation he possessed for this stems from much more than games or rap music.

As Rai stated, rap started not as they way people percieve it today, with dudes wanting money, killing innocents, etc. That's just mainstream. Orignally, rap found it's roots in Rhythm and Blues and Jazz.

Apparently, he was a disturbed student who already had a criminal background and he'd been admitted to a mental hospital. The stuff he wrote gave the teachers and students alike quite a shock.
One student even said he was suicidal, and female students admitted to being stalked. They found a video, pictures and plans for his massacre all in his room.

I don't think the blame should be put onto video games, even if's he's South Korean. I myself know many people who play games like GTA and Crackdown, and I'm pretty sure they don't stalk and kill people.

But besides his reasons and motivations, it's still unforgivable. No one will forgive him, especially not the families of the victims. He's dead now, and that's all there is to it. No one to punish or abuse.

It has nothing to do with America's corrupt judicial system.

I said when STUFF LIKE THIS HAPPENS. So this time excluded due to the fact that the dude killed himself, but other cases that don’t end with the killer dieing usually go unsolved or they get off on an easy sentence; that is because of a warped judicial system. And no, a corrupt judicial system doesn’t create crime; it just doesn’t do anything about the crime that’s already here.

You know you don't actually get a pamphlet on how to raise your children when you become a parent? Shocker, I know, but you are completely on your own.
Sad, but true… At the very least I think you should need a license to have a child. I mean c’mon, you need a license to hunt, a license to drive, a license to sell, but not to have a child?! I really think it would do more good to this world to limit the amount of people brought into it.

Why take more life than necessary?
It is necessary. What’s unnecessary is to do as Rasler said. Do you have any idea the amount of money it costs to keep prisoners locked up? I don’t remember the estimated amount, but it was extremely high. And do you know who has to pay for it? That’s right, us, you, your parents, all tax paying citizens! Especially considering that many prisoners are better off than so many deserving people. They get three square meals a day, a roof over their heads, and clothing on their backs; not to mention they even get privileges such as phone calls, cable, and they get to play games among other things. Maybe the overwhelming number of homeless should go out and kill to live a better life. It’s things like this that make our judicial system corrupt.

*No offense Rasler, I too would love to see evil doers rot in jail, I just don’t want to pay for it, they’re not worth it.*

lol at your total lack of Rap knowledge.
True, I’m not a rap expert, but I can’t turn on the TV or listen to the radio without hearing “Oh, I gonna CENSORED CENSORED CENSORED yeah, I got me a CENSORED CENSORED CENSORED me and my CENSORED CENSORED *over exaggerated* CENSORED CENSORED we’re gonna CENSORED CENSORED CENSORED CENSORED CENSORED CENSORED CENSORED CENSORED CENSORED CENSORED CENSORED CENSORED CENSORED CENSORED CENSORED CENSORED CENSORED CENSORED CENSORED!”

Like someone mentioned rap wasn’t originally like that *man…what happened to the good old days…* But somewhere over the years someone turned crafty rhyming into a joke. No one takes rappers seriously, and I don’t think singing about your crappy childhood and gangbanging is going to make up for it or give you a good excuse. Just do as Linkin Park did and make bad ass songs that people will actually want to listen to. TA-DA!

QUOTE
What the hell, rap music? Because it's associated with gangs? People involved in gangs are not the kind of people who would do something bad without support or pressure from others. That's COMPLETELY different from a lone gunman.
No, it’s people involved in gangs that are just stupid enough to do anything stupid regardless of the consequences that may result from their stupid actions. I’m not saying this guy is a gangster I’m saying killers in general. Where I live over 100% of the crime that takes place is gang related. That may not be the case everywhere else in America, but no doubt gangsters are stupid and will do anything that’s equally as stupid.

You know why? Because there's nothing you really can do. Crime is one of those things that you can never do away with, as it is part of human nature to do stuff like that.

There's a problem with your thinking, although it does seem to have a good amount of thought into it. See, one, people can easily prevent hunting, driving, and selling. However, you can't always gauruntee that you can have null chances of having a child, so by apparently having this so called "license" to have a child, you're technically needing to have a "license" to have sex, which in its own right is ridiculously farfetched. Take on that one, Ryo.

Maybe the federal system should stop feeding that failing program called Social Security and actually use that money that we put into it through taxes for something more beneficial.

Wrong on two accounts. You can easily turn on the TV or listen to the radio, it just involves some effort on your part to choose stations that don't have that kind of language. There's multiple stations for a reason, you know.

Secondly, mainstreem/popular rap is NOT like that. First off, there are not that many swearing words IN A ROW. Usually they go like two or three, then use some other words, then go back. They do this through whole songs.*

*I am not totally sure on this, as I don't listen to rap. Someone who is more experienced in the area feel free to correct me.

While you are entitled to your musical beliefs, Linkin Park is not the solution, nor have they truly made any badass songs lately. While this was different in the past, its not now. Also, not everyone will want to listen to Linkin Park. I mean, what about the farmers? They're all "country or bust!" with music and whatnot. Also, rapping =|= singing. Get your facts straight before trying that one, please. And while I'm still talking about rappers, some people do: The fans.

Sometimes people are FORCED into gangs. Peer pressure is a high motivator in schools, and thus can lead to very stupid results. Also, how do you have over 100% of crime taking place? I'm pretty sure that 100% encompassed all with the exception of like gross incomes. Also, not all gangsters are stupid; that's just stereotyping.
