I can't seem to defeat the guardian knights.

You just give up too fast. ;_;
You must either attack the knights and then allow them to attack you, or get hit by the cannon a certain amount of times (I forget how much exactly, but it was quite a large amount of times if I'm remembering correctly). After, there will be a story sequence and you will be able to proceed. It's quite annoying, since you're pretty much forced to lose morale... ~~~  |
