You're not being affected by God, then. You're being affected by an idea.
If God affects you, you're likely to act differently. If your actions are affected, and the layer between yourself and someone else is your actions, your actions are likely to affect someone else. If your actions are likely to affect someone else, anything that affects your actions can indirectly affect that someone else.
You're screwing around with the definitions again. "Matters" only refers to the difference between the existence and hypothetical non-existence of something. Actual non-existence doesn't have a place here.
Except that the spirit, when it affects the box, doesn't make a change that would affect how the box interacts with the outside. Because that would break the rule of, "You'll never know whether there was a spirit in the box." On the other hand, if something affects you, it would affect how you affect other things.
Others aren't using the same meaning of "affect" that I am. Their affect: God does something to/for them. My affect: The existence of God makes their life different than if He didn't exist. It's the difference between direct effect and indirect effect. My use of the word "meaning" includes both. That should've been obvious by now. You're arguing against an argument I never made. ~~~  |
