Today is the 62nd year since the Invasion of Normandy, Operation Overlord. Also called 'DDay'

On this day, 62 years ago, 5 divisions of men, 2 British, 2 American, and 1 Canadian/British attacked three beaches. Utah, Omaha, Gold, Juno, and Sword along the coast of France. This invasion was deemed one of the most deadly as hundreds of men were killed.

So stop freaking over the fact that it's the date 6/6/6. I mean, who cares? The world hasn't ended yet and it won't. What really matters today is the fact that hundreds of men died for the freedom of France and many parts of Europe on this day, 62 years ago. Let us not forget those that died for their freedom, and for the freedom of the world.

And when he gets to heaven,
To Saint Peter he will tell,
One more soldier reporting sir,
I've served my time in hell.

QUOTE (Dr Sturm @ Jun 7 2006, 03:04 AM)
...
D-Day gave FRANCE freedom.

...man, where's your noble spirit? they died for FREEDOM. after sixty two years, what they sacrificed for what they believed in should be at least remembered, if not celebrated. it doesn't matter to me who liberated what, just that they did it of their own free will. and that they did it.

nice poem, by the way. came up with it yourself?
