In UK's Friday Times Newspaper, a UK man was fined £50 for putting two letters in a bin.

Andy Tierney, 24, was leaving his house in Hinckley, Leicestershire, when the postman gave him the letters.
After opening the items of junk mail, he put them in a bin that was attached to a nearby lamppost.

Accusing him of “misuse of a public bin”, officials at Hinckley and Bosworth Council traced him from the addresses on the envelopes and issued the notice.
Their letter read: “Domestic refuse from your property was dumped in a street litter-bin.”

Mr Tierney said last night that he would not pay the fine. “I never thought you could get fined for putting rubbish in a bin,” he said.
“That’s what they’re there for. I could have easily thrown those letters on the ground, but I put them in the bin.
What has happened is a joke. The council is barmy.”

The council said: “A fixed-penalty notice is served to people who we believe have committed an offence.”

Must've been a slow day for the UK police.
