The Lina one is nice and I like how you cropped the first one. :o It's interesting. Feral, you should really stick to moderation when it comes to putting effects on an icon though. Too much of anything can be bad...

Okay, I'm going to try and get my point across again, but this time I'm going to be nice!
1. This first icon is okay. I can't say I like how Seth is only just barely in the picture, but I just don't like that style of cropping. The effects are fine in this one. 2. Why why why is it so green? The color doesn't go well with the rest of the art, so it just doesn't look good. 3. I like this one. The colors of the effects go well with the color of the art, instead of going completely against it (Ein+green = ?!). 4. The colors are a bit weird on this one, but not horrible. The real problem with this is how the effects are clouding over the art. They aren't going WITH the art, they are trying to steal the spotlight. Effects don't do well when they try to be the most outstanding part of the icon. 5. FIA LOOK OUT FOR THE LASER! Okay, seriously. This one is okay. 6. The effects are clouding the art. It doesn't look good that way. 7. A bit clouded. But it manages to look okay despite that. 8. I'm not certain what the glowy thing on Yggdra's shoulder is, but I don't think it's a bad use of effects and such. 9 and 10. They're okay. The white on the Milanor one looks a bit sudden, but they're fine. 11. Blue... strange. If it was a different color it would probably look better. I think blue stands out too much with that image. 12. Kind of clouded, but like that Gulcasa icon it's not too bad. Now do you understand what I tried to get at the last time I posted complaints about your icons? ~~~  |

I'm playing this thing by ear, you know. I recall asking friends for advice on how to make icons; they snubbed me. So I'm going by what looks good to me and what I know how to do (which is relatively little compared to some people).
The Serene one ended up a little messy. :< So I can't say I really like it... The ones of Ein, Gulcasa, and Yggdra were done before I started messing with layer styles, so they're not as contrasted as I would like. "Dance dance" is from a song. No particular association with Yggdra. It just looked cute on the icon, so I put it there. I thought blue made a pretty contrast with Aristelle... :< And Rhia, I am glad that you're now being polite about really not liking what I do. ~~~ |

I know the song, but I don't see how Fall Out Boy fit in with Yggdra.

  The Cierra one was done with Color Burn (since it looked better than the other stuff with that texture). It reminds me a little of one that Malice did with Cierra and Rose... ~~~ |

I do think the Cierra one looks nice, darker colors are a plus for that image. I do think you should follow Rhia's advice though. Remember, the important thing is the image that attracts the eye. If you cloud it too much, then it will take away from the overall effect of the icon. This really isn't something "taught" it's just an aesthetic outlook you have to watch out for. Less is more, and all that jazz. ~~~ |
