The JP text on the first Yggdra one reads "These memories of you".

"This person's memories" really, but they're nice icons. XD The Riviera ones are really hazy but I love the simple YU ones.

BTW fix your post on Disaresta or I'm deleting it. :D

Your Yggdra icon's Japanese is wrong. It should be "記憶(きおく)." What you've written is 'the action of remembering.'

Use a dictionary next time you want to butcher a language.

Wouldn't a dictionary be part of the problem?

I like number 5 just because it has a cute Cierra.

But the rest seem a little icky... >_>

I think she's using brushes with Japanese on it, which can cause problems like these. The ano hito part bothered me but I was too lazy to check up the omoide part. %D

Feral - Your post on Disaresta was deleted. I saved the html so you can repost it, but please check your posts before leaving the computer. Sometimes they have errors in html and totally fux everything ova'.

The "ano hito" part was close enough to what she was trying to go for that I didn't say anything about it. The "Omoide" part was off by so much I had to point it out though.

Let me amend my statement: Learn the language before butchering it, you make those of us who've actually spent time studying it look bad. Damn Japanophiles and their Otakunese...

Totally off topic, but I thought your title was "Queen of Falena" for a second there, Ash baby.

Mari: I'm fairly sure I'll be able to get to LJ today. Sorry I couldn't get there to fix it beforehand. I'll just repost the icons with my latest YU batch, and I'll make sure I check this time. XD

Those who were polite: Thank you for your feedback.

Whiners: ONORETACHI WA BAKA.

Yes, I used a brush, and the brushmaker has a general understanding of Japanese, but to my knowledge she tries to use aesthetic translations rather than literal ones. So her mistake was pretty simple. "Ano hito no omoida" would usually be translated as "That person's memories" or "His memories", though I've seen "ano hito" translated as "you" in a few songs and anime. The article "no" is a possessive, hence "That person's"; but you can also use the reversal rule to make the translation mean "memories" "of" "that person", or in this brushmaker's case "memories" "of" "you". "These memories of you" was her intended translation, so that's what I usually put out of courtesy.

Hey, don't try to explain yourself when you only know Otakunese and not Japanese.

I still find it weird to use "ano hito" for "you", but I'm not really a Japanese expert. It just sounds weird to my uneducated self. It makes me think of "you over there!" or something. *shrugs* Ash knows more than me though.

"Ano hito" isn't supposed to mean 'you.' It means, literally, "That Person." I've never heard anyone use it as 'you.'
