It's 1000 Needles, unless you're talking about the Jumbo Cactaur GF from FFVIII, in which case it was 10,000 Needles= instakill.

i was thinking about king cactuar from ffx10. it did 9999 damage and it hit all your party members at once. so you basically had no chance to win.

i just remember tonberries as cannon fodder.. hell i dont remember them even doing a worthwhile attack.
