What is the meaning of life?

You say 42 and I'll shoot you.

My religion says the meaning of life is to bring glory to God so thats what I believe.

On a more serious note:

I believe our purpose here is to find a purpose to live. To find what really makes us feel alive. After that, well I'd enjoy life or find another purpose.

If you are searching for the Big Answer, there are a lot of religions that will tell you they have "it." Although if you are a searching person, which I can tell by your line of reasoning that you are, these answers will probably leave you feeling "unfulfilled" to say the least.

As far as the big picture - there isn't any answer, anyone who tells you anything else is selling something - believe me on this one.

But what I can tell you is this - there is a lot of beauty on this earth. I'm doing my part to see and share it. Life is beautiful, because we get to grow and experience new things. We get to go through phases, when you see that hedonism isn't satisfying, you can try something new. Like I said - when you find what makes you feel alive - you will know it.

There are unlimited possibilities, but you only have a finite amount of time - cosmic joke or poetry in motion, you have to decide, and if you don't life will decide for you.

I don't belive in any religion, so I couldn't tell you what I believe, cause I don't believe life has a true meaning. To me, life is just another obstacle in the grand scheme of things.

What makes you think that someone who preaches would know the meaning of life? They're only human too.

Religions teach you ways to live your life, not the meaning of it. However, if, like A Chaos, your meaning is your beliefs in religion, it follows. No-one can tell you yours though.

How long will it take for us to understand? Why is it necessary to understand? Does it matter if you are the type of person who searches and questions, or the kind who is content to sit back, never think and watch American Idol?
