If one were to get Ending B(I think that was it), AKA The Advent of Ragnarok, and the ending that spurs Riviera, they would have to annihate Marietta...but in Riviera, we see Marietta(Albeit not as...gifted...due to the art style), but under the name "Archangel", which, we know she is.

So my question, is, how the hell did was she returned for Riviera?

and, if the answer is "Play Riviera.", then I will on the weekend, when I have time.

She didn't. The Archangel of Riviera is a different Archangel, and the games almost assuredly take place in different universes.
Besides, if the Ragnarok of YU were the same as told of in Riviera, that would cause even more Archangel-related plot holes.

Maybe Marietta just looks like the one from Riviera because...STING wanted to do a sort of cameo thing since Riviera was popular or something.

That's probably it, it wouldn't make sense establishing a connection to the Rivier world and YU world, they simply took the concept of the Archangel and gave her an enormous power boost to make her the pseudo-final boss that she is...

I still dunno about that. I mean, if Marietta was the only reference to Riviera, sure I'd just think it was a cameo appearance or something, but YU is freaking FILLED with stuff from Riviera, so it's hard to say that.

And the Archangel's whole inclusion as an Accursed is a plot hole, like Sturm points out in that thread. (Wow, I actually agreed with Sturm! Is that a flying pig I just saw over there?)

I vote we hunt down the Sting staff who decided to put her in and make them tell us what the deal is. (That way I can torture them for things that made me mad like

having to choose between Roswell and Rosary, killing off Gulcasa, killing off Ledah in Riviera, et cetera

and you can get a crack at them for things that made you mad too, like banner subtitles and stuff that they let Atlus kill in translation.) 'Cause that's the only way to really know for sure.
