Doing some Discrete Mathematics work, did a few random logic problems with Sara too. I'll just throw one out of the book for fun for people who haven't taken this sort of thing:

The famous detective Battler was called in to solve a baffling murder mystery. He determined the following facts:

1) Kinzo, the murdered man, was killed in a fire. (just go with this for now, I know he wasn't)
2) Either Jessica or Eva were in the dining room at the time of the murder.
3) If Gohda was in the kitchen at the time of the murder, then George killed Kinzo with a stake
4) If Jessica was in the dining room at the time of the murder, then Shannon killed Kinzo.
5) If Gohda was not in the kitchen at the time of the murder, then Eva was not in the dining room when the murder was committed.
6) If Eva was in the dining room at the time the murder was committed, then Kumasawa killed Kinzo

Is it possible for the detective to deduce the identity of the culprit? If so who is it?

I'm gonna say it was Shannon. My basis is if Gohda WAS in the kitchen, then George killed Kinzo. Yet, if he was in the kitchen I THINK that would mean Eva would have to be in the dining room, which means Kumasawa also killed Kinzo. Which creates an error unless they BOTH killed him. ALSO I HAVE NO IDEA IF THIS IS RIGHT OR NOT SO PLEASE TELL ME. It'll bug me all day if I don't get an answer >_>

GIVE US YOUR COLD. It was 113 degrees here yesterday. We got warnings from the police department about the heat (note that these same police people didn't mention a thing about the 6.2 earthquake last year).

I'm starting to think perhaps ice cream cake is in order.

You realize I'm talking about the illness rather than the temperature definition, right? Though it does seem to drop below 60 at night. It's nice ;P

D: Oh no! In that case, feel better. I think I got what I asked for too, since I seem to have some kind of bug right now (sore throat, slightly feverish, congested... ugh).

DELICIOUS. As long as there's chocolate involved. :D

EDIT: Those logic problems are awesome. I've been playing Zoombinis for my regular dose of logic puzzles but they're pretty easy now.

It's not the field itself, it's the specialization as an undergrad. I feel it's very limiting - most people don't specialize until they get to grad school, because it's at that point that most people are dead certain about what they want to do (because who goes back to school without being damn sure about it - okay, stupid question).
I just worry about that degree limiting you, if you can't immediately find a game design job, to working at McDonalds.

Yeah, you make a good point. I'm aware of the fact that I might have to do dumb jobs for a while, but I'm hoping that I'll be able to get some internships eventually with the networking that's available to me through this program. Maybe a minor will give me a few more options (although I'm sure it's just as difficult to land a job with an animation company as it is with a game developing company), but if I absolutely had to do coding instead of design or whatever then that would be fine. I'm hoping I can develop my art skills and hop on a school project one of these days so I have something for my portfolio.

YAY good job Rhia. :D

So there's this guy at our school. You know the type, lives to put other people down. Well, he's in charge of Alternative School and patrolling hallways to make it looks like he does something. Anyway. Today in art me and a friend ask to go to vending machines to get a drink. We go, and pick a vending machine each. My friend is robbed of one of his quarters, and I have my entire dollar taken. Everything in mine is completely sold out, and change return isn't working.

Usually I'd just let it go, but friend thinks we should get our money back. And I'm particularly thirsty today, so I go with him. The guy who usually takes care of vending machine problems isn't there, so we go to Vice Principle's office. Informed by said unliked guy (who happens to be sitting in VP's desk like he owns it) that he's in a meeting. Next, he asks which ones we used. We responded with the ones by the art building (the ones by the gym are off limits to nongym students. Because he says so). After seeing he can't bitch about that, next he says "Well, think guys. If we don't take your money, how are we gonna make money?" Friend responds by pointing out that would be stealing while I rage quietly. His next statement is "Now, wait a minute. Did you ever think it didn't take your money but it just didn't have anything to give you?" We both respond that there were, in fact, coin return buttons. He finishes off with "So you both tried to get a drink even though the machine clearly stole your money once." We counter with the fact that we USED THE MACHINES AT THE SAME TIME AND THEY WERE TWO SEPARATE ONES. He decided to just ignore this and kept making fun of us. I received no compensation for my wasted money.

Why the hell are people like this allowed to have jobs involving other people? Everybody hates him, even the teachers who are too nice or respectful talk about how he's a very... Unagreeable person.

Some people just like to be argumentative and controlling. They always have to be 'right', and are more than happy to 'enlighten' people about everything they can think of as if they're all-knowing. Unfortunately, positions of power tend to be that type's 'dream job', so they are very common.
