As a great game, it's only gone so far. It's a humble handheld epic that tells a good, albeit quite cliched, story, but has quickly become one of my favorite GBA games that I won't soon forget about. Why not go further? What about a console sequel or perhaps a manga or anime series, to include an OVA as an option? Get the people to know of this great game somehow. I hope that Riviera doesn't end with one unknown GBA spiritual sequel and a PSP remake.

Is it possible that the creators might try to expand Riviera's future someday?

We've disscussed this before, twice if I'm not mistaken.

It all depends, if Riviera PSP sells really, really well, Sting might consider making a sequel on the PSP or DS.

If a certain article's claim of a Dengeki Maoh interview is to be believed, Shinichi Ito is working on a game featuring the third world of the Riviera universe. Considering the various designs shown on JaJa's blog of an isometric SRPG using Riviera and Yggdra Union materials, it's not exactly far-fetched.

Wait, third world of the Riviera universe?

Obviously the first world was the world Riviera took place in, but what is the second world?

Yggdra Union, Sauce. There's a reason why the Applecot exists in both. The same can be sadi for the Banango, The Fanelia...*goes on for hours*

Just because there are multiple items that share coexistance between the two games does not make Yggdra Union the second world. Going by your logic, all those games with Mithril Swords are in the same universe.

you raise quite a fine point, but how many games do you know have this weird looking thing of ultimate destruction called a Fanelia?

Four. Two are ports/remakes of an original, and one just has a different item of the same name.

Sauce raises an excellent point.

Because if all games with similar items are related to each other, than all games with Norse mythology references would be connected, i.e. Riviera>Yggdra>Odin Sphere>ToS-ToP>FF>Boktai/Lunar Knights>Shin Megami Tensei...

Must I continue?

I wouldn't be surprised if they are connected, though. Just not by small edible food hopefully.

*sigh*

YU BF24 spoilers.

And there are far more relations beyond Norse mythology and food; Kylier, Mizer, Ancardia, Diviners, etc.

Either way, the interview was with the makers of Yggdra Union. Obviously, YU is the second world.
