E.S. battles are awesome. <_<
my favorite E.S. so far are from episode two, Jr.'s E.S. and Kos-Mos's E.S. and their abilities are amazing, and freaking scary.... That Rising dragon move thingie (name right/wrong?) and the X-Buster move This post has been edited by Ultimaninja: Sep 4 2006, 10:57 PM

Spoilers for up to some time in Chapter 9, and semi-spoilers for a sidequest, but mostly Chapter 9 spoilers. » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « I am very very sad! *cries about Pellegri and Margulis* I just wish the last battle with Pellegri got pretty music like it did with Margulis. :( Pellegri just got a generic boss theme. How boring. But it was really sad how they died..
ON ANOTHER NOTE, that battle with Margulis caused me to see the game over screen in my game for the first time. So mean.
I didn't expect a story battle to be more difficult than the optional bosses. And those optional bosses were killing me! Especially Erde Kaiser Sigma, since the only way I survived was using Platinum Singer on KOS-MOS and spamming Valkyrie (the only thing I was using to damage him once he actually started attacking), Best Ally, and Safety (so everyone would be revived after they died). Without Platinum Singer or guarding, they were dying in one hit, so yeah.
BUT ALL OF MY TROUBLES WERE WORTH IT. *caresses somewhat-new ring that decreases EP consumption to one* Using the master ethers and only taking away one EP instead of 99? How very fun and possibly broken!
Anyway, I MAY HAVE FOUND A STRANGE PLOT HOLE.
Back when they were in Shion's subconscious, what REALLY happened with Virgil? I know a lot of things were different from how they actually happened in the past, but who would have saved him from those soldiers earlier and brought him to the church if Shion and them hadn't been there?
And he HAD to end up at the church somehow. Otherwise he never would have met Febronia, and he obviously met her, since he has a bracelet like hers and when he dies he does mention her...

Um. I am talking about the final Xenosaga right now... ANYWAY I BEAT XS3 TODAY AND NOW I HAVE TO TALK ABOUT IT AND CRAP SO SPOILERS FOR THE ENTIRE GAME SHALL FOLLOW » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « THE ENDING MADE ME CRY AND WANT TO BE HAPPY. SO I CRIED. The entire final dungeon took me about eight hours. And keep in mind I beat the final boss in a rather cheap way, so that took almost no time at all. IT'S ALL STORY AND E.S. LEVI, GUYS.
But yeah. Awesome game. The best Xenosaga. I want more and I get sad when I realize that there is almost no chance that it will be continued.
HOWEVER, AS MUCH AS I LOVED IT I HAVE TO NITPICK OR SOMETHING ON A FEW THINGS. And stuff. Yeah.
People overreacted with the censorship, really. The only two scenes that actually seemed to be hurt by it were Jin's death scene, because it made it seem so... fake, and the scene with young Shion and Aoi. Because, you know, it makes no sense if you didn't already know that the blood was removed. <_<
And yeah. The Virgil thing I brought up before. Makes no sense. Also, for some reason the third game shows a scene where Kevin gives his mother's pendant to Shion, and the game seems to go by that, considering they're all like "THAT'S WHY I ENTRUSTED THIS TO YOU SHION", but it makes no sense. In the first game, Shion took it when he died. As in, it wasn't given to her. Especially not while she was wearing only panties and a shirt.
Also, something else that bothered me. At one point in the final dungeon, after a boss (honestly, I forgot which one, there are like five billion in there so I don't know, I think it was T-elos) the dialogue will suddenly be... not so great? I noticed two annoying mistakes. Now, I don't remember the exact lines, but this is close enough.
"She has awaken." - I SEE BAD GRAMMAR THERE WILHELM WHAT'S WRONG WITH YOU. "That's effecting it?" - Needs more affecting. *cries*
AND NO VALKAN IT IS NOT RELATED TO XENOGEARS IN THAT WAY. WITH THE WHOLE OMEGA ID/MAI=MARIA/AIZEN=OLD MAN BAL/LEUPOLD=SEIBZEHN(WHICH SUCKS IN BATTLE BYT HE WAY)/RAMSUS>EMERALDA STUFF. But the most important thing is that Abel is U-DO. That really would make no sense if it's supposed to be the same Abel, considering exactly what U-DO is.
I knew Yuriev had an evil laugh! <3 Unfortunately, it's nothing compared to Albedo's... :(
WAIT ONE LAST THING. Why the hell did they call her Mary if there's already a Mary? Did they forget that Mary Godwin existed? How incredibly lame. I refuse to call that woman Mary. This post has been edited by Rhiannon: Sep 6 2006, 01:37 AM

I've been trying to piece everything in the story together, but now I'm starting to find a lot of inconsistencies. So spoilers for all of the main games shall follow. Actually, I don't know about Episode II. I don't think there's any inconsistencies in there, so yeah. » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « Most of the inconsistencies/questions are because of Chapter 6/7. So you can guess what most of them relate to.
First, a few things with Virgil. As I brought up before, how did he get to the church if there was nobody there to save him from the soldiers? I can only think of Febronia or Federation soldiers even attempting to save him. I doubt Febronia would have succeeded, and why in the world would Federation soldiers take him to the CHURCH out of all places? So neither of those are likely. I don't have any other logical ideas.
When EXACTLY was Virgil supposed to have started eating the Realians, and why did he eat them in the first place? He stated in Episode I that he was looking for something, and found the control code by accident. But, you know, the control code can't have existed at that point, because otherwise the entire berserk Realian thing could have been fixed by using it.
The only thing I can think of is that the Song of Nephilim actually overrides the control code. But nothing of that sort was ever said, and that's a pretty important thing, so that would be weird. And that still doesn't explain what Virgil was originally looking for.
What would have happened if Shion hadn't been there to give Virgil the control code? Because him blowing them all up did not actually happen. Without Shion's interference, it would impossible for him to obtain that code. Especially since it doesn't exist at that time.
It's possible that he stayed behind to fight them and ended up eating them at that point, but unless the Song of Nephilim DOES override that control and it DID exist at that time, it's inconsistent with Episode I. And again, why would he start eating them if that wasn't his original intent?
Or maybe the translation of Episode I's dialogue wasn't perfect. I'm not sure if that should be surprising, since they mistranslated "Leanan Sidhe" as "Rianon Se"... or at least, that's my assumption based on pronunciation and whatnot. But they clearly weren't 100% happy with the translation for Episode I, either. I mean, they even changed Athra to Asura.
I was reading some of the updated database earlier, trying to see if it answered any of these, but it didn't. Although, I did find something interesting about Shion and her glasses. Apparently she has the ability to see into imaginary space...
That is probably why she can see Nephilim, but nobody else. Although, if that's the case, then HELLO CONFUSION I THOUGHT THE OTHER CHARACTERS ACKNOWLEDGED NEPHILIM AT ONE POINT WHEN THEY SHOULDN'T HAVE.
I think it was Jin. Actually, if that's the case, it leads me to believe that Jin also has that ability. Not a plothole/question, but just an interesting observation and sort of a message that means "GO READ THE DATABASE YOU JERKS".
The databse so detailed it even has an article on Albedo and his French puns, plus one about curry. It really would have been nice if they had explained that she wore the glasses to control that ability in the actual game, though.
There are more questions I had, but I can't remember them and I'm tired and hungry and I'm going to bed.
But I swear, there are so many plot holes and inconsistencies with Episode I because of the whole Shion's Subconscious part of the game.

I know what he was looking for originally. Chapter 6/7 spoilers follow: » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « When Febronia died, Virgil left her body and went out to eat the brains(?) of the berserk realians. He was doing this to find her consciousness. Sort of like what Joachim was doing when he tried to bring back Sakura from death. He wanted to find her consciousness and put it into MOMO's body. However, we all know that he failed to bring back Sakura. But regardless, I believe that is what Virgil was looking for. He had asked Shion if the realians could share information and whatnot. So he knows about their mental link.
I haven't loaded up the database to check and make sure there wasn't anything conflicting this or supporting it even more, but I had to post this because it started yelling at me. Also, apparently past Virgil acknowledges that there are two Shion's. <_<
Virgil: Dammit. Dammit! Shion! Shion: What?! Virgil: Realians can share information, right? Shion: Yes, they're capable of sharing the information from individual units. Virgil: Shion's in danger. I have to save her.
Anyway, things are starting to come together for the Chapter 6/7ish area, so I have a feeling I'll be posting something large to explain what I think happened in the real past. But I'm still worried about the Song of Nephilim/Control Code stuff making no sense.
