Part 1: Awake
Chapter 1: The world as it is.
I awaken from my nap taking the heli-jet. I look around and see the same people I always see when going on a mission.
Bob Rossman, The pyro-mechanic of the team. He always enjoys a good blast, shamefully for him, most of our attacks are in area's filled with ruins. So he has to do it with photonic grenades. He never told anyone his age, He looks around 40 with his short orange hair and orange beard. He looks like a typical Irish person, but he’s a full American.
Tiala Ceven, The only girl in our team. She’s the sniper of our team. She always looks like a young boy to confuse anyone. She isn’t long and doesn’t really have developed female body, but she doesn’t mind. She’s married and has short blond hair.
She always remains calm no matter what, like she has no emotions. This is mostly since her husband is suffering from COMAtosis. I feel sorry for her husband. She’s about 30.
Terval X, Our team leader, but keeps considering to resign. The corporation doesn’t allow him to stop his leading, since he never chose a new leader. His speciality is strategy. He mostly brings no weapon to a mission. If he gets discovered he simply uses his hands and feet to keep him safe. He always brings a cloaking device with him though. Everyone knows he calls himself Terval X, but his real name is kept hidden. He does say he is 51, but he looks way younger with his black hair combed backwards.
Simon Zaz, He mostly gets called Simon Says. Some people think he would make a good leader, but he is in reality too shy. During missions he mostly the one using the Stun Guns and Stun Swords. He doesn’t show anything shy during a mission. He enjoys every terrorist he can hit, but hates missions with permission to kill. Simon is also a technician and a strategist. He knows everything of everyone nearly. Simon has long brown hair and has a worked out body. He makes a big impression on everyone. I believe his age was about 37. But simply I can't remember everyone's age that easily.
And of course I look at my hands. I, the youngest member of the team. A boy genius who lost his sister to the disease COMAtosis. I shown a lot of good potential at a young age for this team and was in training for only 2 years. I was battle ready at the age of 16.
But my biggest talent was able to see "Demons" floating around a person's head. This mostly indicates a Terrorist. Scientists call it the Vision. So I always know where to find a terrorist. I use the Energy Claws as weapon. This weapon is highly experimental, but I could use them flawlessly. I can shoot energy orbs from it and also slice terrorists with it.
Basically I never use the damage mode, but stun mode. I never enjoy killing like Simon. Also... I been having dreams and...
"Hey!" Terval shouts to me. "Stop Daydreaming, were about to arrive at the base of the Terrorist. I remember the mission briefing clearly.
They found a huge terrorist base in the south of Africa, but they hidden in the ruins there. The ruins have to do with Mentia. Mentia... a silly child's story of the dream world. Yet a lot of civilizations know about it. Scientists say it does not exist. Just a funny Folktale. "Bob, I hope you did not bring any illegal explosives with you." Terval looks at Bob when saying this. Bob responds, "Who do you think I am Boss?" Terval looks a bit angry at Bob. "Come on Boss, You know I won't blow up ruins." Bob then looks away. Terval then looks at Tiala. Tiala looks back and then Tiala says: "Boss... stop feeling sorry for me. I'm fine." Terval quickly grabs his newspaper of yesterday. I read clearly: "2032, May 20." The headlines only tell about COMAtosis cases rising. I only get angry at the news. Putting COMAtosis in front of everything. Even the terrorist’s actions or any special elections or Nobel prices.
Even the Olympics hasn't hit front page since the COMAtosis outbreaks. The worst disease ever, caused by a malfunction in the brain. It puts us all into an Artificial COMA and never wakes up. Only 1 person died of it so far... my sister...
Before I know it. The Heli-jet has landed and the pilot signals that the hatches are going to open. Terval gives like always his motivation speech. "...We have been picked to take out these terrorists by a few of the allied corporations. All leaded by the CEO president Lord Domtias and..." Simon interrupts him. "I don't get Domtias... He always acts all fancy pancy, but remains a mystery... why is he so interested in..." Simon looks at me and Terval then continues his speech. "Simon you get your turn after the mission. Well uuhm... Let's just forget it then and kick some TERRORIST BEHIND!" Terval points at me. "And this time be sure to also hit people even if they DO NOT HAVE A DEMON! Were in a base. Only
People in the cells are the only ones we have to save ok?" I nod and simply respond with the question: "And what about prisoners with...." Before I finish the sentence Terval looks at me with that look of "Are you going to bother me with that?" I simply hold my breath and the hatches open.
We jump off quickly and Terval points at where we have to go. We quickly descend down a cliff and notice a cave entrance. We all enter it with care. Terval signals to NOT use any light, but to put on the light goggles. I put on mine and see the carvings on the wall in this dark cave. They all seem so vaguely familiar. Simon also looks amazed at them, but Terval pats our shoulders to say its time to move and not time to admire the cave.
We venture deeper into the cave as a flashlight shines in. We quickly take cover behind different piles of rocks and we keep the eyes open for the enemy that is heading in our direction. I activate my claws silently and wait for the beam of light to get close.
I hold my breath and when the beam of light comes close enough I jump out and slice the 2 guard’s unconscious with the claws. The team looks at me and the guards. I examine their heads and notice they have demons flying around. I sigh and signal with my hands a demon like signal showing the team that I see demons around their heads. They nod their heads and we head in deeper. It’s shameful that these terrorist wear masks and full body suits to hide who they are.
As I turn down my claws while venturing deeper we see some lights ahead. This time not flashlights but real lights. We see metal bars and metal walls. Clearly it shows this is where we should be. Terval signals to wait and scans the complex through his metal detection program on his wrist computer. He then waves his hand to open the goggles communication option. Terval starts talking at once: “This base is quite small but very heavily guarded. Once we step in, it’s action time. No going back till we get the captive’s free.” I respond by asking: “Any data terminals?” Terval shakes his head and says: “Again no computers but security ones.” Tiala takes down her goggles and takes out her sniper shock rifle and says: “I’ll take cover from here.” Terval nods and hand signals that the rest of us has to go in. I take deep breath and take off my goggles and look at the base. This feels different then usual… like a start of something big. Terval gives me another look and I gulp. I take my 1st steps into the base and I see Terval, Simon and Bob walking ahead of me. I start sprinting to catch up.
