Lacrima Castle _ Other Games _ What is the hardest game you've played?

Posted by: Rhiannon Feb 5 2006, 04:24 AM

I don't know what mine is. Probably because I haven't really played many difficult games.

Posted by: Dr Sturm Feb 5 2006, 04:25 AM

I don't think I've ever played a game that was difficult the whole way through, but I've played plenty that had parts that made me want to burn my house down.

Posted by: Rhiannon Feb 5 2006, 04:26 AM

Which parts of which games?

Posted by: chrishawke Feb 5 2006, 04:28 AM

Ghosts and Goblins for Super Nintendo.

The hero can literally go out to save the princess in distress in his boxers. But that's not why the game is hard. The flying demons can maul you BAD.

Posted by: Dr Sturm Feb 5 2006, 04:51 AM

Let's see....

-The mini-games (not optional) in Dewprism/Threads of Fate.
-Hell and Maniac modes in Feel The Magic.
-The two electric worms in Ninja Gaiden (Xbox).
-The dancing mini-game (not optional) in Oracle of Seasons (might have been Ages, can't remember).
-There was one boss in Panzer Dragoon, you could only shoot it at certain times or it would do a shit ton of damage to you. Also the last level was pretty hard, because there were tons of fast moving enemies flying around shooting at you, and then the final boss was also there, except you could only dodge his shots (within the level). You couldn't harm him until you cleared the level and started fighting him.

Trying to beat Super Metroid under 2 hours.

It can be done.

But I have yet to do it.

Posted by: Kohaku Feb 5 2006, 05:22 AM

This obscure RPG that has a long name..can't remember it off hand, but it started with "Angel". It was a neat game, but the monsters were so hard, I could not get past the 3rd battle in the first dungeon, ever. And i've tried at least a dozen times..

Posted by: Raijinili Feb 5 2006, 07:03 AM

Super Mario Brothers was too hard for me to beat.

You're kidding right?

The original Super Mario Brothers.

Rai.

You phail as a gamer.

Posted by: Dr Sturm Feb 5 2006, 07:40 AM

Rai isn't a gamer though.

Posted by: Elnendil Feb 5 2006, 08:26 AM

Hardest game? That's pretty hard when I think about it... Ghouls and Goblins was pretty hard, so was 8 Eyes. Why was 8 Eyes hard? You had to destroy certain levels to beat the game, and you HAVE to have two players to do any good. Not only this, you dont really get far since everything kicks your ass.

My mom and her brother beat it together after a year or so of work, I think.

Posted by: Marionette Feb 5 2006, 01:47 PM

Hoshigami. Never got past the first stage. Though I think its because the music in that game sucked hard.

Posted by: chrishawke Feb 5 2006, 04:28 PM

I take back what I said earlier. The hardest game I've played is Ikaruga.

Posted by: fensti Feb 5 2006, 04:34 PM

Hmm... I don't really kno wwhat to say... wait, F-Zero GX. That game is so hard. >_<

Sturm, it was Seasons. I thought it was easy. It was the stealth parts that kill me.

Posted by: Dr Sturm Feb 5 2006, 06:12 PM

What stealth parts?

Posted by: fensti Feb 5 2006, 06:20 PM

All of them. The first one was easy when there was only one person you were following, but the one with two had me stuck for sometime. I have trouble with all parts of games involving stealth.

Posted by: Dr Sturm Feb 5 2006, 06:21 PM

I don't remember that.
Must not have been hard for me. But I know I'm not the only one that found the dancing mini-game in Seasons hellish.

Posted by: fensti Feb 5 2006, 06:23 PM

Yeah, my brothers had some trouble with it. I loved all of the GB/GBA LoZ games though. Better than the console ones in my eyes.

Posted by: MeleMewChew Feb 5 2006, 06:32 PM

Fire Emblem series...
Halo on legendary mode
Ragnarok Online (mvping is hard...and lvling is long...)
Advance Wars 2 (hard campaign)

meh...

Oh yeah, I remember Hoshigami...there was one mission in it that is actually impossible to win unless you cheat, and you're supposed to win =/

Posted by: Leyviur Feb 6 2006, 11:16 AM

Hoshigami also sucks ass.

Hardest game would be Advance Wars 2. It's like you HAVE to do things the way the creators intended or else you're totally fucked.

Posted by: Chardes Feb 6 2006, 12:48 PM

Digital Devil Saga 2. XD

I got my arse turned upside down, thanks to Meganada and Ravana's..

Advance Wars 2 isn't hard. Just annoying because you can only do everything one way.

Minish Cap. *hates Wind boss*

Posted by: whoyodaddy Feb 6 2006, 11:13 PM

hmm ninja gaiden was pretty difficult.

That was Seasons. Mine would definently have to be...... That part in Megaman Zero where you have to go right to X without filling up your Sub Tank.

Both Seasons and Ages has mini-dancing games. Ages(Goron Dance) is harder as it emphasize on rhythm, IMHO. Seasons(Subrosian Dance) is all about tapping the right directional button and pushing the A button.

Posted by: Deadelus Feb 8 2006, 10:01 PM

Hoshigami is hard........

Another one would be:

Vagrants story (Ashley is so dumb)

Chrono Trigger (Lavos is just to hard and that sun boss)

Advance Wars 2 (Hard)

FF9 (Beating that OZMA thing...)

Posted by: Vahn Jul 5 2010, 06:01 AM

Touhous and Nocturne.

Posted by: DustyHaru Jul 5 2010, 02:17 PM

I actually didn't find the Seasons Dancing all that bad, and I don't even remember the Goron Dancing so it must have been negligible. It only took me two tries each time I needed to the boomerang and the flute if you wanted Moosh or Dimitri. Actually I think you had to buy Dimitri's flute somewhere.

Anyhow:

Touhou games
Ikaruga (I sort of played the first stage)
Gunstar Heroes (Hard and up) - FFFFFF GREEN AND BLACK.

The HARDEST game I've ever played was probably Fushigi no Dungeon 2 - Furai no Shiren, known as Shiren the Wanderer for the SNES/DS. I got the rom, patched it, and began to cry as I made it to the 4th or 5th, and repeatedly died. The game got easier when I found you could get that lady NPC to join you. I think I'm now on the 14th floor.

Did I forget to mention that when you die, you lose all your items, levels, and you need to start from the beginning again? No game has ever made me as frustrated as Shiren the Wanderer.

Well maybe playing cases in Draw My Thing, but that's something else entirely.

NES BATTLETOADS

Seriously.

Posted by: Elnendil Jul 5 2010, 09:36 PM

The next necro thread!

Hardest game still stands I guess.

EU3, as Netherlands vs Revolutionary France and its never ending supply of soldiers that are generated out of nowhere just outside your field of view to disguise the fact that the AI is cheating.

For some context, each unit consists of 1000 soldiers, and takes about 40~100 days to make just one infantry, twice as long for cavalry, and twice as long as that for artillery. A day goes by every few seconds, and you can only make as many units as you have manpower, plus your income gets diverted to their upkeep. So when I end up crushing a 50k strong French army, and see only a few small remaining units that are being defeated by my allies, I think I'm in the clear. Then suddenly, a 75k strong army appears out of nowhere, has a strong general, and has battle experience (what?). After barely defeating those a minute later, suddenly my allies are being attacked by 100k strong armies, also with good generals and battle experience! It gets so ridiculous that they end up having more soldiers than they have people and manpower. I couldn't even put them down with cheats of my own.

Ultimate Ghosts and Goblins. It just is.

Posted by: Enzd Jul 6 2010, 11:23 PM

I think it's a tie between Gex 3: Deep Pocket Gecko and The Simpsons: Night of the Living Treehouse of Horror.

SO MUCH RAGE; TWO LITTLE CARTRIDGES

Posted by: Yuka Jul 6 2010, 11:31 PM

Fake difficulty or real difficulty? Fake difficulty is probably I Wanna Be The Guy.

Real difficulty for me is probably Defiant of Shrine Maiden, but that's probably more because the language barrier GREATLY serves as an issue in this game because of the sheer amount of items this game has.

Posted by: Lucho Jul 7 2010, 12:46 AM

DEMON'S SOULS.

Then probably Ikaruga and then SMT: Nocturne.
