Lacrima Castle _ Anime and Manga _ Kara no Kyoukai - The Garden of Sinners

Posted by: Megaolix May 22 2008, 04:31 PM

The first part has finally been subbed and is out.

I watched it and I loved it. I can't wait for the next part.

Anyone else watched it?

Posted by: Irysa May 23 2008, 12:15 AM

Nasu is a shitty writer.

And for god's sake, I know Tsukihime was based off the novel, but pretty much all the character designs are EXACTLY THE SAME.

STOP BEING SO FUCKING LAZY.

I might watch it. Main character is definitely more interesting than Shiki.

Posted by: Irysa May 23 2008, 08:49 AM

Well, I watched it.

It has some great music (no, I'm not talking about the opening), sfx and background cgs, but it is frankly one of the most lazily animated things I've ever watched.

What really bugs me is how minimalistic it tries to be, while alternatively trying to stuff an entire story into one episode, and thus you end up with Nasu's infamous introspective scenes for any one character to try to "sum up" things, or over explain them. Fortunatly, Shiki has none(jesus, I know the reasons they have the same name and about SHIKI and all, but it's still annoying), so by default, she's more likable than Shirou or Tohno Shiki.

If you took those out, fixed the animation, I'd probably enjoy it a lot more.

The Light Novel seems to sort of address the STUFFED FULL OF UNNECESSARY SEGMENTS, but I think the anime is probably slightly better at this point.

I guess I'll watch the rest of it too.

Murder Speculation (Part 1) is out.

Sadly, I have to admit it's a little boring. Some on others boards commented that the preview for next episode was more interesting than the second movie. I kinda have to agree with them. Still, there are some interesting parts in the movie.

Hopefully, Remaining Sense of Pain, the third one, won't be anywhere near boring.

Posted by: Irysa Jun 27 2008, 08:11 AM

I hate you Mega.

This was far better than the first episode. Anyone who disagrees only liked the first one because OMG FIGHT SCENES. This was a lot more subtle and well presented. It also had better music.

Posted by: Rhiannon Jun 27 2008, 04:55 PM

I agree with Asaph.

Posted by: Megaolix Jun 27 2008, 05:23 PM

Well, it's not like I can tell you what to like and hate. Maybe I just prefer the Shiki from the first one. Besides, I never said I hated it.

Oh well.

Posted by: Irysa Jun 27 2008, 05:26 PM

Shiki in the first one doesn't even have any proper character development. She goes through leaps and bounds in the second.

You must be allergic to plot if you dislike Murder Spec (Pt1).

Posted by: Megaolix Jun 27 2008, 05:38 PM

Well, maybe it's because I read everything that had been translated from the novels.

I suppose I'll just watch it again

And...

Also, I never said I disliked it.

Posted by: Irysa Jun 27 2008, 05:40 PM

You said it was boring.

I've read everything translated of the novel so far. The second episode misses only like 2 lines but the first misses a shitton of dialog.

Posted by: Megaolix Jun 27 2008, 07:30 PM

Fine, I'm wrong. I admit it.

It's just that at the time, I already knew what was going to happen.

More dramatic.

Posted by: Rhiannon Jun 28 2008, 12:36 AM

I think the running showed his fear better than just sitting there would have. They could easily have done the facial expressions, but NOT THE STUMBLING

Posted by: Yuka Jul 3 2008, 02:02 AM

I've just finished watching the two that are subbed, and I agree with Rhia and Asaph. The second one's better than the first one.

Also, I am fairly certain that even with the MEDP, Shiki would not be able to leap across rooftops. That just seems a bit too ridiculous in my opinion.

Posted by: Megaolix Jul 23 2008, 09:01 PM

The third one, Remaining Sense of Pain, is out.

Posted by: Yuka Jul 23 2008, 11:06 PM

Old. We've known about this for like four hours now.

Posted by: Irysa Jul 24 2008, 07:34 AM

The raw's been out for over a day.

You do know I meant the subbed version, right?

Posted by: Irysa Jul 24 2008, 06:11 PM

Of course I knew. I'm just saying the raw has been out for quite a while.

Watched it. Not as good as 2, and is actually worse than 1 for the first half, but it picks up a lot later.

Also, TITS, BEST EPISODE EVER.

Posted by: Yuka Jul 26 2008, 06:54 AM

Just finished, second was better.

Posted by: Irysa Jul 26 2008, 08:05 AM

So vague. D:

Posted by: Kohaku Oct 28 2008, 11:42 PM

I really can't wait for the Fifth one. I hope they extend the length of it to fit in all the stuff that makes it interesting.

Posted by: Yuka Oct 29 2008, 01:03 AM

But the fourth one isn't even subbed yet. It won't be out for us to watch subbed until sometime in December.

Posted by: Irysa Dec 17 2008, 11:32 PM

I still liked it, but I'll definitely admit it wasn't all that interesting compared to the others and the foreshadowing of 5, where it all starts going down.

But long haired Ryougi is fucking beautiful so who cares.

Can't wait for it. Only about a month.

Fuck.

( 2 > 3 > 4 > 1 for me so far )

I have to watch these with French subtitles as my computer fails to play .mkv files without terrible lag and the only subbed .avis I can find are ones of a French translation group.
But while I may only understand 1/2 to 1/3 of the dialogues (my mastery of my neighbours' language is still flawed), it's still quite awesome. Plus it's got like the most graceful fighting scenes ever.

Posted by: Rhiannon Feb 6 2009, 03:17 PM

Ugh. http://alltoavi.sourceforge.net/

I wish I didn't find you so disagreeable that I'd be forced to help you.

Why are you such a huge fucking hypocrite

Hypocrisy is either not understanding or not caring about your own beliefs.

Should be watching in about 45 min.
We'll be on #simuwatch to keep from spoiler.
If you don't have it yet, or can't download it within that time, well :\

EDIT: Finished

Different mood than 5th movie, not as much Shiki action since it was more Azaka focused. Dog <3

That's about all I can think for now. I'll most likely rewatch it tomorrow or with a friend. I can watch again with Asaph if he feels so, though I doubt.

Now that I have a new comp I should try watching the MKVs with their English subs.
Although I did get a lot of what the French ones said when I viewed the AVIs of all 5 films, my French still isn't good enough to understand everything.

Posted by: DustyHaru Dec 9 2009, 02:31 PM

Should be getting 7 in the next couple days or so, or i'll just go to a restaurant in town and DCC there.

On a somewhat related note, for class I've written a review/critique of KnK4.

Feel free to read
Constructive criticism please.

I won't be on IRC till at least the next morning, so if KnK7 is released within that time frame I would appreciate it if someone could send me the link via PM. Or tell Lux or blues if they're on at the time.
