(now its fixed.)
I could...yeah. I'll let you know.
I will be participating in this this year.
I was actually going to make a new topic closer to November. But that works too.
I am also participating this year (I've been doing it every year since like 2009 anyway). Though, this time I'm not starting a new story, I'm continuing the one I started last year. I didn't win last year. And the story is way too long. So I might as well do it again until I finish it. I just need to remember to not stop caring as soon as I get to 40k only like half way through November like I did in the past two years.
AND BEFORE ANYONE ASKS NO I'M NOT GOING TO INCLUDE THE STUFF I WROTE BEFORE WHEN I CHECK MY WORD COUNT PROGRESS FOR THIS YEAR THAT'S DUMB
I've gotten started!
IT BEGINS
Since the month ends on a Friday, I'm going to post my progress on Fridays.
Haven't started yet, but I woke up with an idea (finally!) this morning, so that's cool.
I've only written 58 words. Needs more dark (I don't know why, but I seem to be pretty awful at writing fiction unless it's night) and less Zone of the Enders.
2461 words so far.
I deleted half of yesterday's work this morning, sadly, but it's already way better for it. Need to stop for the night and reevaluate it a bit because I feel like it's losing it's original direction.
I need to get started. Until now I was still swaying back and forth on which of my ideas I want to realise. I am dropping the mermaid idea for now though, and shall instead realise that fragment of fictional history of my Minecraft country.
Not finished writing for the night, but I'm at 13,008 right now. I might actually take this as a first draft. I have ideas for this story that can't be implemented this late in the game but might make for a readable novel after all. Like having it not take place in space, for instance.
Also, does anyone have an account on nanowrimo where they're keeping track of their progress? If so, add me: http://www.nanowrimo.org/en/participants/bananarchist
Edito: Done for the day at 15,051.
Fell behind this last week, hence the lack of update on Friday, but I'm up to 28,000ish right now, the most recent 3000 of which is PUREED FECES.
No, seriously. I think I just blew up my plot trying to expand on a character's history.
It happens.
Currently at a whopping 19361 word count. If I kept going at the rate I've been going for the past three days (like 2000+ words a day) I would be able to finish... if I was smart. But I forgot to take into account a rather large jump in this story between the first part and the second part. I'm close to the end of the first part, and I don't think I'll be able to just jump into the second one right away.
I will never write this for NaNoWriMo again! It worked last year because that was when I first started it. But now it's just like "WOW OKAY SO I'M GOING TO BE WRITING THIS FOR NANOWRIMO FOR FOUR YEARS." And I can't handle that. Not when I could be writing about dumb vampires or SUCCESSFUL SPIDER. Though, this story has been good at showing what types of things I'm good at writing and which types of things I should never touch again. Like fight scenes. Never again. Why did I think I could write it when I don't even read it? Fight scenes are boring in books unless they're wide-scale with little to no individual focus or if they're duels. One situation where the middle ground is the worst option.
I'll consider this year enough of a success if I actually manage to finish the first part of the story. But next year is Successful Spider. Bet on it.
I have a better idea for successful spider.
At 37,362 right now. Probably going to keep going tonight since my wife is still missing.
You'll never have a better idea for Successful Spider.
http://nanowrimo.org/en/participants/rhiannonse/novels/where-the-horizon-meets-the-sea/stats SO YOUR IDEA FOR SUCCESSFUL SPIDER WILL ALWAYS BE BAD, WHATEVER IT IS
Also, Shio made me do it and tomorrow decides if I fail his challenge or not. I also lied in that one post. I probably didn't actually look at the numbers.
Well, my idea for successful spider was to use as a prompt for a perpetual short story writing game/contest/whatever here on LCN. First it could be successful spider, then it could be some other random concept that we have to turn into a whatever.
That's some amazing progress, though. I've got about 1900 words to go. Just slogging through this painful to write ending (it's so bad!)
Not going to be done in time this year, but will keep writing it independently anyway.
Finished earlier today.
50,120 was the final count, though a few more words would be necessary in order to have a true resolution. Just happy to be done with this draft.
VICTORIOUS AT 50,199 (BUT 50,079 ACCORDING TO MY WORD COUNTER)
Too bad I have to keep writing it because I'm not technically even half way through yet.
