Lacrima Castle _ Other Sting Games _ Cecilia's Chest

Posted by: Rhiannon Aug 28 2009, 07:26 PM

THE THREAD FOR IT. Let us discuss what little we apparently know of it! ... And I wanted to have a place to put the voice actors that I went through the trouble of figuring out, despite not caring that much.

Cecilia Arclight: Ami Koshimizu
Rafilt(?! Rai's telling me Ravelt) Gemini: Masako Ookouchi
Levant von Schweizer: Satoshi Hino
Elaine (Irene?) von Rosenbaum: Rie Tanaka

Also, Levant's sword is totally badass. Real men use pink swords.

Posted by: P.P.A. Aug 28 2009, 07:43 PM

I'm picking Levant von Schweizer anyway. He's obviously aristocracy, sports a well-mannered demeanour, and generally seems like the elegant and gallant sort of character. Plus, yeah, he wields a pink sword.
Plus the other ones that will join him also look interesting, if yet Elaine von Rosenbaum looks kind of like a slut. A slut of high noble, possibly royal, descend looking at her extravagant clothes and the palace she seems to reside in, but still.

On the other hand the Light side looks pretty generic and so unpleasantly energetic like most RPG main characters are. Plus they aren't nobles.

I'm not telling you it's Ravelt. It's most most most likely not. But I was throwing stuff out there.

Posted by: Rhiannon Aug 31 2009, 03:57 PM

You were telling me something. :( And then you stopped.

Posted by: DustyHaru Aug 31 2009, 05:44 PM

Shlee threw it away

Turns out one of the charachter designers from Dept. Heaven is working on this, Sunaho Tobe. Although these designs remind me more of her Summon Night: Twin Age work than Dept. Heaven.

I DO NOT KNOW WHEN IT UPDATED BUT THE POINT IS THERE ARE TWO NEW CHARACTERS. So voices:

Lufina Gemini: Yuuko Gotou (Spoilers: she's really Cierra in disguise)
Greek: Hirokazu Miura

I'm sure his name isn't really Greek, but that's what I'm calling him until Sting or Atlus tells me otherwise. >:(

There's also a video in the System section now that shows off the FP (Force Point), um, system. It's used for HP recovery, upgrading weapons/getting new skills, and... item synthesis. And the item synthesis screen reminds me of Valkyrie Profile. :(

Posted by: mattiator Sep 19 2009, 01:38 AM

Is it just me, or is the Dark path looking to be 10-times as badass as the light side.

Posted by: Rhiannon Oct 7 2009, 09:17 PM

It updated again, giving us the last two characters: Ignis (voiced by Kazuki Shimizu) and Ciel (voiced by Minori Chihara). I was hoping they'd update the System section again. :(

Kind of a large update now. First, there's this http://www.famitsu.com/sp/091020_hexyz_force/ Famitsu page with a bunch of information and screenshots, among other things. All I care about is the, uh, "Ragnafact" weapon things which I don't know anything about except it appears the name is from Ragnarok and Artifact. I am amazing. Also, it has four new characters, and I am 80% certain that the one with pink hair must be Pamela's mother. Oh and there's also a http://dol.dengeki.com/pr/hexyz_force/, which appears to be just as useful.

And the official site updated too. Two (one?) new wallpaper(s?), information about the http://www.atlusnet.jp/catalog/detail/280 and http://www.atlusnet.jp/topic/detail/1003 (with Cecilia bath scenes and what appears to be Irene wearing a sheet), and there's another system video. This one is about Burst Attacks, but I'm too uninterested to try to "read" what they are, since I don't know Japanese.

Posted by: Archeia Oct 24 2009, 10:47 AM

Hexyz Force really looks like it has a CTB battle system similar to FFX :o
Rofl there's even an overkill. And a burst bar that can be either a limit break or on a far side similar to the atelier iris series hmm...

The world seems to be split into half too and the Ragnartifacts...
*Random mumbling ensues*

SO THE GAME IS OUT NOW. Also, as PPA said in the channel, there's a new video on the site.

Posted by: Enzd Nov 13 2009, 04:56 PM

Blonde Ein is pretty hot.

Posted by: Dr Sturm Nov 14 2009, 01:16 AM

Sting seems well aware of how quickly compression kills any interest I might have had in something.

Posted by: Raijinili Nov 15 2009, 04:50 AM

Sting, you used to be so pure!

Posted by: Rhiannon Nov 15 2009, 05:51 PM

SO LIKE I PLAYED SOME. Started with Lustrous/Cecilia but I'll probably do both. It is nothing special, but I like the equipment/skill system so far. :( Your dudes have four equipment slots each, so they can, uh, equip four weapons. Each weapon has different skills, so that's cool. Ragnafacts will learn new skills when you level up their technique, but others don't learn new skills. You can upgrade the Ragnafacts with FP (which you get from battles and transmuting items into FP), but other weapons can't be upgraded. And the non-Ragnafacts have a limited number of skill uses, so you have to watch out for that too.

And um, as far as actual battles go... There is no "normal attack." Just a bunch of skills (Like Riviera!!). And your skills depend on what weapons you've equipped. So far I haven't seen any that don't take RP (basically, it acts as MP/SP would in other games), so you should probably think about what to use to make the most efficient use of it. Although, HP and RP are both restored when you level up, when you visit a Force Point, and you can use FP to restore your HP, and when you guard you recover a little bit of RP. So it's not as dangerous as I make it out to be. Also, there's a guage (like Riviera!!) that fills up as you hit and get hit, and when it's full you can use Burst attacks or whatever they were called. But Burst attacks can only be used with weapons the character has a Great affinity for.

And there APPEARS to be an elemental chain system thing (think Xenosaga Episode II and/or Chrono Cross) which I don't fully understand yet. Actually, I just don't full understand elements in this game at all yet.

Also, the chapters are called PHASES. Totally a Valkyrie Profile reference. AND THE MAPS IN THIS GAME ARE SO AWESOME THEY TELL ME WHERE TREASURE CHESTS ARE

Posted by: chrishawke Nov 16 2009, 07:30 AM

I do not like the teleporting puzzle in Revant's Side.

Posted by: Rhiannon Nov 16 2009, 02:40 PM

Dude I hate it too. :( Cecilia's side had that, and I somehow ended up where I needed to be after realizing that it wasn't simple enough for a map to help, and trying random portals.

But don't worry, I have absolutely zero idea where to go in this desert, and my only lead is a talking cactus that hates every choice I make. So I'm pretty much lost now too.

Posted by: P.P.A. Nov 28 2009, 06:54 PM

At least going by the videos of how the battles play, this game gives me the impression of being Evolution 3.

Posted by: Archeia Jan 7 2010, 04:12 AM

I am so glad it's going to be translated into English... <3

Maybe THIS game will finally get me to get off my lazy ass and get a PSP.

Posted by: Rhiannon Mar 11 2010, 04:04 AM

YOU PEOPLE NEVER TOLD ME THAT ATLUS ACTUALLY OPENED THE SITE. :( I HAD TO GO BY STING'S SUPER-LATE TWITTER ANNOUNCEMENT

Also, Atlus actually has NEW wallpapers. That aren't just terrible-looking jumbles of art like the Kitten ones.

So I got a little bored the other morning and this was the result:

CHAINING IS COOL

Posted by: mattiator Apr 19 2010, 02:05 AM

FYI, the soundtrack is available (two-disc set), I ordered a copy, and while I wait for that to arrive in a month or so, I got myself the files, and.... OHMYGODTHISISAMAZING.

Absolutely, without a doubt, Shigeki's best work since Baroque (personal favorite of his work). Possibly better than Riviera as well. And way better than KITN.

Posted by: Enzd May 26 2010, 07:07 PM

SO IT'S OUT NOW

Haha.

I just started the game (Levant's story he kind of reminds of Kyousuke from SRW) and the teleporting puzzle wasn't that hard all you had to do was follow the the elemental succession guide they gave you in the tutorial, Red->Blue->White->Red...etc so far im up to Granad Cavern
