Lacrima Castle _ Other Games _ THE ULTIMATE POKEYMANZ THREAD

Posted by: Rhiannon Feb 3 2006, 08:21 PM

EDIT: For Pokemon Showdown replays/discussion, https://lacrimacastle.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=3622

Seriously, we have too many Pokemon threads. Let's try to keep Pokemon discussion to this thread.

What is your favorite Pokemon, why, etc. TELL ME.

Posted by: Dr Sturm Feb 3 2006, 08:28 PM

Blastoise and Cubone.

Posted by: regruBgniK Feb 3 2006, 09:15 PM

Charmander.

Maybe Blaziken.... oh and Rayquaza is the uberness.

~regruBgniK

Posted by: Rhiannon Feb 3 2006, 09:30 PM

Since I forgot to list mine in the first post.... my favorites are Skarmory, Steelix, Paras, Parasect, Octillery, and Articuno.

Posted by: Raijinili Feb 3 2006, 11:59 PM

I forgot. But I know I liked Houndoom for some reason.

Posted by: chrishawke Feb 4 2006, 12:14 AM

Scizor.

Posted by: Dr Sturm Feb 4 2006, 12:29 AM

Really? Scizor?
I like Scyther, but Scizor is just kind of...

Posted by: MeleMewChew Feb 4 2006, 01:17 AM

PIKACHU!

or, PICHU!

Raichu is just ok...

Posted by: Elnendil Feb 4 2006, 02:03 AM

Pikachu is the pwnzor. I have a huge plush of him.

Posted by: whoyodaddy Feb 4 2006, 04:03 AM

uh....i never really went into pokemon but if i had to choose it would be pikachu?

Posted by: Dr Sturm Feb 4 2006, 04:04 AM

If you never really played pokemon you don't have to answer.

Posted by: fensti Feb 4 2006, 12:16 PM

My favorites (In order), and reasons if I have them:

Blastoise (Started with Squirtle, ended up with Blastoise. Been my favorite since I first saw him.)
Parasect (First Pokemon I ever used when I played my friend's game. I actually used one the first time I played my Blue version.)
Crobat (I guess because it looks awesome, and the wings are cool.)
Zangoose (Looks awesome, and has one of my favorite moves, Crush Claw, but then again I have several other Pokemon with it now...)

Posted by: Deadelus Feb 8 2006, 10:06 PM

Arcanine.............

He can learn "Extreme Speed" and "Fire spin"....

??????????????????

Zangoose can learn crush claw........

Posted by: Dr Sturm Feb 8 2006, 10:21 PM

You mean Flame Wheel, but why would you have Flame Wheel anyways? Flamethrower is what you should have.

Posted by: Deadelus Feb 8 2006, 10:26 PM

I get frozen a lot....

I mean "A LOT"...

My brother liker having an' All ICE TYPE...

So "Flame wheel" and "Sacred fire" melts the ice...

Posted by: Dr Sturm Feb 8 2006, 10:28 PM

What are you talking about?
How would Flame Wheel and Sacred Fire get rid of the freeze?

Posted by: Deadelus Feb 8 2006, 10:33 PM

Im no pokemon........
they just get rid of it...

And thats what i need.

Posted by: Dr Sturm Feb 8 2006, 10:37 PM

Fire attacks do not get rid of freeze.
And Flame Wheel is just a crappy version of Flamethrower.

Posted by: Deadelus Feb 8 2006, 10:42 PM

But it does get rid of the ICE.......

And your right "Fire attacks do NOT get rid of freeze" but Flame wheel does....

And heres another trick:
If u use rain, Thunder will never miss....
But theres more....
If u use thunder on a pokemon that is currently on fly, thunder will do double damage!!!!

Posted by: Dr Sturm Feb 8 2006, 10:45 PM

Flame Wheel is a fire attack. It does NOT get rid of freeze.
And if you're using fire pokemon, you shouldn't get frozen anyways.

Posted by: Deadelus Feb 8 2006, 10:58 PM

But you do get frozen.....

And thats the special ability of Flame Wheel...

It melts the ICE...

Posted by: Raijinili Feb 8 2006, 11:10 PM

Flame Wheel, for some random reason, DOES get rid of freeze.

Stop being wrong, Sturm.

Posted by: Dr Sturm Feb 8 2006, 11:12 PM

I'm not the one that's wrong.
If Flame Wheel DOES get rid of freeze, it's my source's fault for not mentioning it.

Posted by: Deadelus Feb 8 2006, 11:12 PM

It's not random...

It gets RID of the users frozen status.......

It has never failed me before....

Posted by: Raijinili Feb 8 2006, 11:15 PM

If you had said "My source says", rather than "It does NOT get rid of freeze", then it would've been your source.

But you didn't, so you're wrong.

Posted by: Dr Sturm Feb 8 2006, 11:17 PM

No, because I assume my source is correct.
They've never been wrong before, so why would I assume them wrong this time?

Posted by: Deadelus Feb 8 2006, 11:17 PM

When was the last time you played pokemon????

Posted by: Dr Sturm Feb 8 2006, 11:19 PM

Me?
Last week.

Posted by: Deadelus Feb 8 2006, 11:20 PM

Mmmmm.....

?????????????

?????????????

????????????

What version????

Posted by: Dr Sturm Feb 8 2006, 11:21 PM

Leaf Green. What is the point of this?

Posted by: Deadelus Feb 8 2006, 11:23 PM

Yes!!!!!

In the newer versions the attacks have special efects....

Like: Flame Wheel gets rid of a Frozen PKMN!!!!!

Posted by: Dr Sturm Feb 8 2006, 11:25 PM

Attacks have had special effects since GS.

Posted by: Deadelus Feb 8 2006, 11:30 PM

So....

Why dont you get a PKMN frozen and use de flame wheel...

Posted by: Dr Sturm Feb 8 2006, 11:33 PM

Because my pokemon don't get frozen. I rarely use pokemon that are weak against Ice, thus lessening my opponents urge to use an Ice move.

Posted by: Deadelus Feb 8 2006, 11:38 PM

Then u r a lucky one!!!!!!

Posted by: Dr Sturm Feb 8 2006, 11:39 PM

No, I just know how to manipulate my opponent.

Posted by: regruBgniK Feb 8 2006, 11:41 PM

I finally caught a freking Latias, go me.

*huggles cute lil' red dragon*

~regruBgniK

Posted by: Dr Sturm Feb 9 2006, 12:07 AM

I'm still looking for my Latios in Ruby.
Figures that I am able to catch a Latias for my sister, but cannot catch a Latios for myself.

Posted by: Ryu_Dragon_King Feb 9 2006, 01:11 AM

Blastoise, Blaziken, and Sceptile all the way. I got both Latios and Latios by trading, heh heh.

Posted by: Liger Feb 9 2006, 01:27 AM

Mudkip, Rayquaza, Swampert, Grovyle.

I caught my Latias on my first meeting with it near... uh.... Littleroot town? Gawds, I haven't picked up my Pokemon cartridge for so long.

Posted by: fensti Feb 9 2006, 07:05 PM

*inhales* *exhales*

1. Sturm, you are wrong. Sacred Fire and Flame Wheel do get rid of Freeze status when a frozen Pokemon uses them.

2. On my Blue version, I beat it (Got all 151 Pokemon) in one month. Then my game erased it self a while after.

3. On my Ruby I have all 202 that can be caught on it without FR/LG/E.

I explained this. I'm not wrong, just misinformed. My source is wrong.

Why the hell would I think Flame Wheel and Sacred Fire got rid of freeze anyways? Seems useless to me...

Posted by: Deadelus Feb 9 2006, 08:37 PM

In the PKMN stadium 2 game.....

Those fire attacks engfuls the PKMN in fire melting the ICE.....

Posted by: Chaos Seraph Feb 13 2006, 04:36 PM

Oh, tough call. Probably either Lugia, Rayquaza or Togepi.
Yes, Togepi. Its adorable.

Posted by: chilly Feb 13 2006, 05:21 PM

Arcticuno, Clefable, Primeape, Electabuzz, Raichu, Starmie, Golem, and Roselia.

Posted by: Zeta Feb 13 2006, 09:32 PM

It's pretty hard to single one Pokemon out of 386. I suppose Blastoise, Gengar, Typhlosion, Hypno, and Scizor.

Posted by: Jan Akiyama Feb 14 2006, 02:14 AM

Most likely Lugia (His uberness indefense and speed won me over.)

A Jolteon is a close second because it outranks most electric pokemon by actually having a special defense.

A Blaziken too. God I love them fire pokemon. Especially one with a subtype as a fighting pokemon.

A Blastoise too. Who can turn down a pokemon with dual barrels on its back!?!

A Dragonite too since its been my best friend in GSC as well as Fire Red. The guy trashed the elite four. And it was only at level 55. Haha. Blasted them level 60s into Kingdom come.

Lastly, a Sceptile. Or more specifically, its preform, Grovyle. Ever saqw its animation on a gamecube? The thing recovers its bearing in a very cool way. Fast and furious.

Like list- Mightyena, Groudon, Mewtwo (hate mew), Deoxys Speed mode (No I'm not joking), Nidoqueen (OMG the thing won the battle factory for me), Shiftree, Venusaur, Charizard, Feraligator, Gyarados, Articuno (winning pokemon, top ranks), Latios (Caught that little bugger between Mauville and the berry house, the twit), and Fearow (One of my best pokemon in GSC and Fire red It still is.)

Hate List- Pikachu (WTH its a yellow mouse), Rayquaza (overused), Kyogre (also overused), Steelix (weak Sp. defense), Meganium (My sister's trademark pokemon, I personally hate its guts), Granbull (butt ugly), and hitmontop (too ummm, what was the word, too lame).

Thing is any fire move can defrost a pokemon. If flame wheel can cure freeze, then by all means if you can use it while frozen. As an alternative, you could blast yourself with ember if you have a partner but by then its not ember anymore, its flamethrower and fire blast and the much dreaded blast burn that leaves you immobile for 1 turn. Why I did not mention heat wave is simple. It can't strike a friend as it targets both enemies.

And the most difficult part about catching a darn latios or Latias is that you can't see one until they randomly appear. And then only for a second. Then your going to have to chase it all over the place until you find it. Now I only have one more thing to say. A wobbufet is a good pokemon to use since they hold the darn dragon down. You could do it in one battle and slowly deteriorate it down to struggle and then start throwing timer balls at it or you could do it the long hard way by picking the fastest pokemon you can find and using any form of speed move like quick attack or extremespeed. Then you swap for a wobbufet to nab it. A wobbufet is crucial. Why? Its shadow tag prevents running.

Posted by: Dr Sturm Feb 14 2006, 02:23 AM

Jan. Two things.
She said favourite pokemon, not the quantitative qualities of all 400.
Next, make your sig one image. It's slow as hell to animate eight different ones.

Posted by: Raijinili Feb 15 2006, 09:33 PM

And most fire moves can't unfreeze. Just Flame Wheel and Sacred Fire, as far as I know.

Posted by: Tonfa Feb 15 2006, 09:39 PM

Dugtrio.

Arena Trap has proven its insane usefulness to me in Netbattle.

Posted by: Jan Akiyama Feb 16 2006, 02:45 AM

Its called link battles. This ain't megaman.

Posted by: Dr Sturm Feb 16 2006, 02:59 AM

No Jan, he's talking about http://www.tvsian.com/netbattle/.
Not link cable battles.

Posted by: P.P.A. Jun 10 2006, 11:45 AM

It´s coming. And there´s no way to stop it.
You all know that online pokémon battles are going to rock the world. I decided to dust off my Ruby and Firered games and prepare my pokémon for being transported into the new versions.
Anything you´d like to say about pokémon? Tips for other trainers? Stats you want to rub into other peoples´ faces?-Post it here.

However, I hope they include secret bases and online contests.

(Note:Pokemon battle Revolution for Wii has been announced)

Posted by: Dr Sturm Jun 10 2006, 01:32 PM

It's more than been announced, there's a video on YouTube for it... SHOWING THE DYNAMIC CAMERA ANGLES AND THE POKEMON ACTUALLY HIT EACH OTHER

Posted by: Enzd Jun 10 2006, 01:36 PM

I could really care less about any DS Pokemon game until they make it how I want it to be made.

Posted by: Dr Sturm Jun 10 2006, 01:38 PM

Which is?

Posted by: Leyviur Jun 10 2006, 02:27 PM

You sound like one of those Final Fantasy fanatics who say each FF game sucks ass because it doesn't adhere to their specific standards.

Posted by: fensti Jun 10 2006, 04:51 PM

I can't wait for it. Finally, the game that I shall pwn all over Wi-Fi.

Posted by: valkan Jun 10 2006, 06:04 PM

I reserved it. And I'll probably be the first one at GS to get it when it comes out.

...Like I did with all the other major Pokemon sequels...

(I hope that was directed at me <_<)

I'm not. I just think that while the Turn-Based deal has been working for the Pokemon series since

um

forever, they should try a different kind of battle system. Like a Real-Time battle system maybe. But It just occurred to me that it would probably suck ass. I change my mind. BUT I WILL ONLY GET THESE BECAUSE OF THE ONLINE PLAY.

Posted by: P.P.A. Jun 10 2006, 06:22 PM

I have to agree, the battles get boring. But I will still buy at least one version of every new generation.
Oh, and there´s the totally new Mysterious Dungeon. This could be interesting...

Posted by: Dr Sturm Jun 10 2006, 06:28 PM

Real time for pokemon is impossible.

Posted by: Enzd Jun 10 2006, 06:31 PM

But I think Real-Time would make it more exciting and kind of make you think faster. But that doesn't matter anymore, forget I brought it up.

Except it would probably fall to ToS syndrome. As in, disregarding weaknesses and resistances and just smashing the button as fast as you can.

Posted by: Enzd Jun 10 2006, 06:41 PM

Yeah, that's one thought that entered my mind afterwards.

Posted by: P.P.A. Jun 11 2006, 10:10 AM

It would be great if you could shout into the microphone in P/D instead of only selecting the attacks on the touch screen.
"Fight!""Flamethrower!"

Posted by: Dr Sturm Jun 11 2006, 10:47 AM

No, that would be a horrible idea, because there's already around 2000 attacks.

Posted by: P.P.A. Jun 11 2006, 04:36 PM

Of course there would still be the option to select the attacks via touchscreen or buttons. But they could make it like this: on the top screen, there are the pokémon fighting and on the bottom screen there are the options and attacks listed. Now if you want to use a poke ball, for example, you could either touch "Item" and then "Poke ball" or use the mic and say "Item" and "Poke ball".
But if you mean that this would be technically impossible, you may be right...

Posted by: Dr Sturm Jun 11 2006, 04:50 PM

How do you pronounce "Pokeball"?
How do your friends?
How do you think I do it?
How does Japan or Europe do it?

What about Arcanine? Or Ho-Oh? Or the legendary dogs' names?
How do you think Japan pronounces them when most of them have different names?

Posted by: P.P.A. Jun 11 2006, 05:07 PM

OK, this idea is rubbish...
Forget it.

Posted by: Rzul Jun 11 2006, 08:34 PM

That would take a lot of time, patience and programing. And plus it would have to be different for each language. So yeah, that would be a crappy idea. Anyway, I've gotten accustomed to picking from a menu, so I'd rather stick to that.

Posted by: P.P.A. Jun 13 2006, 01:50 PM

But for the fighting system: the 2-on-2 battles in Ruby and Sapphire were fun. I hope there will be more of them in P/D.

Posted by: P.P.A. Jun 13 2006, 05:35 PM

My favourite pokémon are Eevee, Charmander and their evolutions.
And Jigglypuff!
user posted image

If I had to name only one pokémon, it would be Flareon.(Maybe...)

Posted by: Shadow Jun 13 2006, 07:01 PM

Hm... I'll try to remember...
Scizor...
Salamance
and Poliwrath.

Posted by: Rzul Jun 14 2006, 04:35 PM

My favorites are Umbreon and Espeon. My trademark team. You will be thrashed if you fight them.

Oh and I also like Larvitar, Tyranitar, Dusclops, Mightyena, Absol, and my favorite starter is Treeko.

Posted by: Enzd Jun 15 2006, 04:26 PM

Eevees forever!

Posted by: P.P.A. Jun 22 2006, 01:52 PM

Well, here's the new pokemon that've been uncovered so far.
You can also check out the other new features by picking from the menu at the right.

Posted by: Dr Sturm Aug 23 2006, 03:51 AM

What do you mean they're running dry? The only other Penguin-ish pokemon is Delibird. The only other Monkey-ish pokemon I can think of is Aipom. The only other Turtle-ish pokemon is the Squirtle line, but they never had fungus growing on their backs, and they stood on their hind legs. Unless.... VENUSTOISE <_<

Those actually look almost like baby pokemon. Not that that's very special considering the point of baby pokemon is that you can only get them through breeding, but you've never been able to catch starters anyways...

Posted by: Leyviur Aug 23 2006, 04:13 AM

Posted by: P.P.A. Aug 23 2006, 09:07 AM

Until now, I always picked the fire starter pokémon. But I think this time I will pick the water one. Ugly monkey...

The graphics are different, at least out of battle.

Posted by: Rhiannon Aug 25 2006, 08:18 AM

<_<

Apparently, special attacks and physical attacks will be based on the move ITSELF rather than the type of the move. Like Body Slam will be based on attack, and hyper beam will be based on special attack.

Oh, and it's supposed to be an entirely new region, too. Not just some random new caves.

Posted by: ChefMKT Aug 25 2006, 09:00 AM

Indeed. The stat used for attack and special attack will be based upon the moves themselves and not what type. e.g. Crabhammer is water type and therefore it uses special attack for damage. I FIND THAT RATHER WEIRD =(!

And lol @ random caves.

Posted by: Seans Aug 25 2006, 10:29 AM

And about Pachirisu: Aren't there enough cheeked-up electric rodents already?

Nintendo would be destroyed in a matter of hours. <_<

But besides that... total chaos would ensue. People would lose all faith in Nintendo and all that stuff.

Posted by: Dr Sturm Aug 26 2006, 05:28 PM

It's not like it's hard to import a game, especially on a system like DS with no region locking.

Posted by: P.P.A. Aug 26 2006, 05:55 PM

Posted by: Dr Sturm Aug 26 2006, 06:02 PM

It's not like the Japanese in Pokemon games is all that complex.

Posted by: P.P.A. Aug 26 2006, 06:04 PM

But you still have to know what the attacks and types are called, don´t you?

Posted by: Seans Aug 28 2006, 01:05 PM

Wow, Nintendo sure is busy making all these new Pokemon games for the DS. What's next, Pokemon Ranger and Mystery Dungeons rescue team? Why, yes....

Posted by: paperweight Sep 19 2006, 06:17 PM

Hooray for reviving old topics! I'm practically obsessed with Pokemon so I had to do it.

Absolute Favorites have to include (in this order): Mew, Ninetales, and Jirachi.

Other Favorites (in no particular order):Mewtwo, Dratini and evosm (especially Dragonair), Latias and Latios, Flygon, Cyndaquil and evos, Charmander and evos, Squirtle and evos, all the Evee evos (Umbreon and Espeon are the best), Corphish, Totodile and Feraligator (Croconaw sucks), Treecko, Pichu, Articuno, etc., etc....

Posted by: Seans Sep 19 2006, 08:36 PM

Umbreon

Best with Moonlight and Faint Attack.

Posted by: TaylorGS Jan 27 2007, 05:12 PM

Usually, people give Umbreon status-inducing attacks, like Toxic and stuff. After all, it has such high defense. o_o;

My most favorite is without a doubt, Gardevoir. There are many reasons why, but I'll just say that I think they look so... cool (...? *hunts for dictionary* There's gotta be a better word than that... >_> ) and are psychic-type. Mew used to be my most favorite, but I don't fight with legends, so I wouldn't be able to fight with Mew, get it? @_@;

Fans? Most Highly....
Running out of Ideas? I think so...

They better come up with some sweet ones for Pearl/Diamond or they aren't going to last long.

It's has a High Def. O_o; damn. then mine's just weak.

Her Def is equal to her speed, but those two are lower than everything else. booooo.

Posted by: TaylorGS Feb 4 2007, 01:49 PM

... Der. O_o
Umbreon's defense and special defense should be about on par with each other... o_O;

Is it on a third generation game, and if so, what is its nature? It could just be a matter of natures... Especially if it's something like hasty. o_o;

Apparently, special attacks and physical attacks will be based on the move ITSELF rather than the type of the move. Like Body Slam will be based on attack, and hyper beam will be based on special attack.

Gah... That just sounds weird. And utterly confusing. O.O

My take on the fourth generation is that most of the new Pokémon are... Meh. Munchlax was cute, and Eevee's two new evolved forms are adorable (although is ice-type really needed? ._.; ) but then umr... Everyone else is kinda, mweh. And I'd like to send Kirlia's male-only form flying into a brick wall, although it'll be on my team roster. >_>

I'm too lazy to look around, but has there been a list yet of the differences (most Pokémon available) between Diamond and Pearl? I'm still not sure which one to get, and I'm going to pick first before my sis this time. @_<

They drink champagne and bathe in the money they're making off the series.

Posted by: aerozero Feb 4 2007, 08:47 PM

That too

Posted by: Raijinili Feb 5 2007, 04:58 PM

Umbreon has about 40 more SpD than Def at level 100.

Posted by: Raijinili Feb 5 2007, 05:00 PM

Yes, they need an Ice type. All of the Eevee evos have been Special types, if you didn't notice. All they need now is Dragon.

Posted by: TaylorGS Feb 10 2007, 04:57 AM

I know all the Eevee evolved forms are special types, so they should stay like that, but I still don't see a significance in having a form dedicated solely to being ice-type. Ice Beam on a water-type is plenty good, me thinks... But then again, it could be just for the cash. >_@;

STAB gives, like, a very noticeable damage boost. Water types get no STAB for Ice. Glacia gets it. Vaporeon cries because it does not. :(

And there are no "special types" anymore, so they didn't choose Ice to follow a trend.

GOSH WHY CAN'T YOU PEOPLE JUST BE HAPPY THAT THEY'RE ACTUALLY MAKING MORE ICE TYPES?

And I only use pokemon I like. And I don't make them specific for one situation, because that would get me killed against the person I play against.

I don't do that, either! I have to like the appearance of the Pokemon before I'll even look into their stats and moves, and I love making Pokemon that can work in many situations. And I should probably note that I hate switching in battles, so if I want to still stand a chance, I have to make them adaptive!

I do "abuse" EVs. I know what you mean by that, and I don't feel like being annoying. But I don't test all statistics or have a top-notch team. When it comes to stat manipulation all I look out for are EVs and Natures (both are because I don't like points going into stats that I wont even be using). And my team is hardly top-notch. Most of those "hardcore" Pokemon players would say that my team sucks. But that COULD be because I say their Tyranitar sucks.

I'm getting Pearl.

You think that it well use the DS's duel screen to its fullest?

Posted by: FlameSpark Apr 14 2007, 09:02 AM

Hmm, lemme see...

Typhlosion
Jolteon
Umbreon
Salamence
Larvitar/Tyranitar
Dragonite

among others...

Like, Rhiannon, first I look at their appearance, then I get one of each type for the team (which lasts until the end of the game). Until the team isn't fully built, I just use fillers until it does.

My teams usually are:

I like them fast or tough, preferaly both...
The main one is always 5 levels higher than the others, in case something bad happens (not likely).

[Edit:] The new pokemon look promising, though I didn't picture Lucario as a Fight/Steel type when I saw the movie...he looked Psychic to me.

Houndoom
Blaziken
Tyranitar
Agron
Absol
Zangoose

What defense do you have against the fact that like five billion Pokemon can learn Earthquake and most of your team is weak to ground?

Posted by: Lord Rasler Apr 15 2007, 03:42 AM

True, only Zangoose isn't weak against it. However, you said it yourself: "Like five billion" pokemon are weak against it, and almost everyone of my picks can use it. For those who can't, I think thats Houndoom and Absol, well........I guess their fucked>_> However, Absol can learn Ice, Fire , and Thunder moves, so he is bound to have the enemies weakness. Tyranitar can use it, so for Argon, Blaziken, and Zangoose.( I'm not too sure with Zangoose however) But you raise a good point, and i have no real answer, but hay: I love all of them, so it doesn't matter really.

Solrock
Heracross
Dugtrio
Golem
Magneton

This team had never let me down, and I don’t think it ever will. But I want to add a really good Kingler I have to it.
Oh, and I’m going for Diamond. I can’t wait for it to come out

Meteor Mash, Rasler.

Anyway, my favorites are as follows:

Umbreon- because he learns Faint Attack, and can learn Psychic.
Milotic- pain in the ass to obtain, but totally worth it because of Marvel Scale and Twister.
Espeon- Psybeam is t3h win
Gardevoir- Evolves easily and has high Sp. Attack and Sp. Defense
Metagross- Clear Body owns
Porygon2- Conversion and Conversion2 are the shit, plus it's defense isn't half bad.

The only legendary that I have high favor of is Entei, because of Fire Blast.

My favorite starter is Treeko, because as Grovyle and Sceptile, Leaf Blade is awesome.

Yeah, some are wierd, and some are cool...there's even one legendary (i think it is legendary...), Arceus, that can be of any type.

About the Grass type of Eevee evolution, lol...I had imagined it when Gold/Silver came out, but I though it would be a wierd evolution, and that Leafeon would be a lame name...I guess Game Freak didn't share the same opinion.

But so far...no Dragon/Dark yet...but there's a Dragon/Ghost...good enough.

But as for the rest of the Pokemon in this set, well they're just as ugly. I mean half of them are pre-evolutions or regular evolutions to the original ones. I was really un-happy when I saw Magneton's evolution. Although it wasn't too too bad, it doesn't look like a proper evolution for him. *sigh* What happened to the good Pokemon...?

P.S: That new Regi totally rocks, he's the most badass new Pokemon I've seen!

And Ryo that team is terrible; whoever you're fighting against is a complete turd. Your team can be annihilated with a global move set. Not team, move set, a move set nearly everyone can get.

Posted by: Rhiannon Apr 19 2007, 09:41 PM

EVERYONE ELSE WAS DOING IT SO.

I'm noting who I use in the Battle Frontier, too, because yeah. The team I use currently:

Vaporeon: It doesn't like to die. I use him instead of Steelix in the Battle Palace. BUT THAT'S IT.
Milotic: Also doesn't like to die. It's my first choice for the Battle Frontier.
Steelix: Dies only to water gun and explosion. My third choice for the Battle Frontier.
Sceptile: Kills most things before they can even threaten me. My second choice for the Battle Frontier.
Houndoom: Kills a lot of things. I use him instead of Sceptile in the Battle Frontier sometimes.

I actually forgot the last one. I know I'm training an Espeon, Meganium, Slowbro, and Umbreon, but... Who am I USING?

OH I REMEMBER NOW IT'S CRADILY BUT HE'S STILL KIND OF A LOW LEVEL CONSIDERING HE DEALS WITH LEVEL 100S AND HE'S ONLY LIKE 40 SOMETHING SO I'M STILL TRAINING HIM TOO.

Yes. They changed some elements of the system that piss me off.
For example, when a pokemon dies, the turn finishes. Meaning you have to watch weather reports, a status inflicted pokemon has to deal with poison/curse/burn/whatever at least one more time, and an opponent won't send out new pokemon until after you have possibly missed with your second (or even first if you're really unlucky) attack.

Torterra
Staraptor
Floatzel( I'm favorite>_<)
Onix( don't know why............)
Bidoof( He's my HM Whore)

Posted by: Leyviur Apr 25 2007, 11:52 PM

Infernape is probably the best of the starters. He has fighting and fire moves and his attack/sp.attack/speed are all through the roof, meaning he can likely knock out TOrterra AND Empoleon within a round, or at least injure them massively.

Posted by: Rhiannon Apr 26 2007, 11:19 AM

First gym: Rock
Second: Grass
Third: Fighting
Fourth: Water
Fifth: Ghost
Sixth: Steel
Seventh: Ice (But with a surprise Medicham.)
Eighth: Electric (But this one has TWO surprises. Most notably, Octillery.)

I guess it should probably be noted that the third and fourth gyms have Pokemon with the same levels and you can do whichever one you want first. I just listed it based on what the Trainer Card shows.

Posted by: FlameSpark Apr 26 2007, 11:31 AM

I don't see the point in trying to explain now, as I'd expect to only get "What the hell, Endless?" as a response.

I have a couple of Changes to my team:

Torterra
Floatzel
Steelix
Lumineon
Staraptor
Gyrados

I hate being stuck trying to find my way to the next gym>_< I need the HM Strength, but have no clue where to find it.

Oh, and Endless............I don't hate Prinny. Just this one.........

Can anyone tell me where's the Riolu egg I've looked for so long and hard to find?

Iron Island.

Posted by: WhiteKnight May 2 2007, 09:59 PM

Thank you. Now to find a good place to level it up when I get it.

Posted by: Lord Rasler May 3 2007, 02:42 AM

Finished the game, moving on with my life......................

Posted by: Rhiannon May 3 2007, 08:26 AM

I don't believe you! You don't just "stop playing" after you beat a Pokemon game! You KEEP playing and let it steal hundreds of hours of your life away!

Also, let's try to find a good place for Attack EVs. By "let's", I guess I really mean "someone please do this for me so I don't have to". I'll give you... um... a Paras.

Posted by: chrishawke May 4 2007, 04:07 AM

Almost a week with the game and I still haven't gotten my third badge...

I think I'm getting slow in my video games now.

Posted by: valkan May 4 2007, 08:57 AM

I'm in the same boat as you, so don't think of yourself like that.

See, I've been ripping off Japanese kids on the GTS.

AND LEVELING UP. OOOOH

Posted by: Rhiannon May 4 2007, 08:59 PM

OKAY GUYS I THINK I FIGURED IT OUT

THE SNOWY PLACE. ACUITY LAKEFRONT OR WHATEVER SPECIFICALLY. MACHOKE. SNOVER. ATTACK EVS. BEST PLACE I KNOW OF.

AND OMG I LIKE MY DUSKNOIR HE'S WAY BETTER THAN MY OLD DUSCLOPS

Posted by: Lord Rasler May 5 2007, 09:08 PM

When I said I was moving on with my life, I meant that I would play the game for 36 hours in 4 days>_>
I'll get around to getting all the pokemon some day, but I'm very happy with leveling up my pokemon that I have.

Posted by: Fujibayashi Suzu May 6 2007, 05:23 AM

Ha. I beat the game in like 22 hours. And I was being lazy too!

Now I'm just browsing the GTS sometimes and filling up my National Pokedex. Plus planning out my ultimate Battle Tower team of DOOM.

Posted by: WhiteKnight May 6 2007, 05:35 AM

I'm busy getting the last mon I need for the Nat'l Dex, to be precise, Gabile's ultimate evolution.

*shoots self for misinterpreting the map and not looking in Wayward Cave*

Posted by: Leyviur May 6 2007, 11:08 AM

Fight the Champion.

Posted by: Fujibayashi Suzu May 6 2007, 12:49 PM

How could that be the last one you need? o.o
I'm fairly certain a few of the Pokemon you need are only seeable through the Champion. Unless there is another way to fill out the Pokedex I'm not aware of.

Posted by: Leyviur May 6 2007, 01:26 PM

No, it's impossible to see them before the champion unless you do arduous level training for stuff like Garchomp, or spent a long ass time trying to get a Feebas/Spiritomb.

Posted by: Rhiannon May 6 2007, 03:15 PM

Actually, I'm pretty sure you can't do Spiritomb's stuff until you get the National Dex anyway.

Posted by: WhiteKnight May 6 2007, 05:54 PM

Seems that the champion killed me off too fast, then. I need to train, still. Staraptor at lv. 60 will NOT last long without Ethers.

Posted by: Dr Sturm May 6 2007, 06:14 PM

I like growing berries.

Posted by: Rhiannon May 6 2007, 06:17 PM

WAIT A SECOND YOU'RE NOT SAYING THAT ABOUT SPIRITOMB RIGHT

Because that would make no sense and be, like, unpossible.

Posted by: WhiteKnight May 6 2007, 06:20 PM

No, she wiped me out before I saw....Garchomp, was it? it's Gible's final evolution. I can't find Gible AT ALL.

Posted by: Rhiannon May 6 2007, 06:24 PM

Don't bother looking for one unless you want one for your team. You can't get the National Dex before beating the Champion, anyway. Even if you have all the required Pokemon, you can't get it. :(

Posted by: WhiteKnight May 6 2007, 06:28 PM

I see. Thanks, Rhia. But I STILL want a good Dragon for my team....That's why I want Gible so much. Well, I need to train all the mon's I plan to use to about 55.

My team:Staraptor, Crobat, Bronzong, Sudowoodo(traded in a borrow from a friend for Palkia to help him get Rhyperiror, this Sudo is lv 72), Garchomp, and Luxray.

Posted by: Fujibayashi Suzu May 6 2007, 06:48 PM

Don't use a Dragon-type. Trust me.
Shirona's Garchomp or Lucario will EAT IT ALIVE. They both have Dragon-type moves. They 1HKO'd my Palkia at full health.

I managed to win using Palkia the whole way through. Bring some Max Potions/Full Restores/Revives. Maybe get some Leppa berries, those recover 10 PP.

@Sturm: Me too! ;D
Got any rare berries? >_>

Posted by: Dr Sturm May 6 2007, 07:14 PM

Define "rare" berries.
I've got a few hundred Aspear and Wepear. Eight berries per tree = win. Now I gotta' remember where I can get the fertilizer so I can get even better yields.

Pherhaps I should consider Weavile then....

On a side note, Staraptor won his second contest in Cool! :D

Posted by: Fujibayashi Suzu May 6 2007, 08:33 PM

You get fertilizer from the woman in the Berry Master's House right outside of Hearthome I believe.
Well you know, 'rare' ones. The ones you can't find growing in the ground and have to get from the Berry Master or Wild Pokemon?

I need some good Pokemon for Contests. I want my Bronze card.

Posted by: Dr Sturm May 6 2007, 09:49 PM

Name some "rare" ones. I have plenty I didn't find growing in the wild.

Posted by: Fujibayashi Suzu May 6 2007, 11:49 PM

Welll... Thing's like that Lum Berry or Enigma Berry... I don't know them all. And Serebii.net is slow as heck sometimes. =/

Posted by: Dr Sturm May 6 2007, 11:52 PM

I have twenty or so Lum berries. Fuckers take forever to grow, but those ones that reduce the effectiveness of enemy moves take even longer. I don't have any Enigma berries, though.

Posted by: Fujibayashi Suzu May 7 2007, 12:53 AM

I'm growing some Lums myself and... I agree. Gosh they grow SLOW.

Since you're more a Berry master then I, do I have to worry about these Berries dying if I let them gather up too many Berries? <_<

Posted by: Dr Sturm May 7 2007, 01:11 AM

I've never had a berry plant die without reseeding, I don't know if they can but I also don't intend to find out.

Posted by: Fujibayashi Suzu May 7 2007, 03:14 AM

I should experiment with those fertilzers some more... Just none that dry the soil. I can't play it enough to water them if they begin to die of lack of water. ._.

Gosh. I feel like I'm playing Harvest Moon growing all these Berries... (Then forgetting where I planted half of them)

Posted by: Dr Sturm May 7 2007, 03:21 AM

Why aren't you using the Berry Poketch?

Posted by: Fujibayashi Suzu May 7 2007, 04:02 AM

Because that only shows Berries readied to be picked? I can't tell which ones are growing and need watering.

Just caught Giratina.

Posted by: Dr Sturm May 7 2007, 04:14 AM

That's the point. You start to remember where you have to go. Also, a lot of berry patches are strategically positioned. For example, there's a four-plot patch on Route 211 right outside Celestic, right next to a patch of grass which is great for training for Speed and Attack EVs. Then there's two one-plot patches in, and one two-plot patche outside of Floaroma, a town you'll be hitting up for free berries every day, for trading berries, and for slathering the two trees nearby with honey every four hours. Then the mother-load: Pastoria. Pastoria has a four-plot patch in town, and on both exits. You will also be visiting Pastoria daily for free rarer berries, and the northern exit patch is viewable from an area good for Special Attack, Speed and HP EV training. There are other good areas, but those are the most obviously "abused."

And until you start figuring out the timing for each berry, you don't want to set up patches entirely filled with one kind. Set one plot with something that grows fast, one with something that grows slower than a planet, one with something in between, etc.

Posted by: Fujibayashi Suzu May 7 2007, 04:19 AM

*Takes notes*
Yes I should do that. And just remember to visit them every few hours during class *coughs*

The Berries demand I grow them.

Posted by: Sauce XIV May 7 2007, 08:25 PM

I should start growing berries as well, as it seems that there is a much grander depth to them than I previously thought. Then again, my previous thoughts were based on what R/S/E had brought with the berry system, and I was pretty sure all they were mainly used for was for Pokeblocks, which were just for Contests and the occasional Feebas.

Posted by: WhiteKnight May 7 2007, 08:28 PM

I don't care much for berries, but I SERIOUSLY want my nat'l dex. Too bad the person with Garchomp is out of my rech right now.....

Posted by: Fujibayashi Suzu May 7 2007, 09:34 PM

Berries are your friend. Even if you don't wanna make Poffins, a few are super nice. Namely Leppa, you can't use them in battle but they recover 10 PP to a move so they are like... Reuseable Ethers! Plus you can swap them for stuff, if you're a Contest person. Like me. I want my Bronze card.

Just get to Shirona you wuss! D<

Posted by: Lord Rasler May 7 2007, 09:51 PM

I beat the Elite Four with my highest level pokemon at 60>_> It was Torterra, ended at level 65 when it beat it. It wasn't that hard. The 4th elite member did the most damage to me.

My Victory Team was:
Staraptor( Lv. 49)
Steelix( Lv. 50)
Palkia( Lv. 55)
Torterra(Lv. 60)
Floatzel( Lv. 51)
Luxray(Lv. 49)

I beat the entrie league with them on my first try at those levels>_>

Oh, and Suzu: I beat that Garchomp with one Spacial Rend.

Posted by: Fujibayashi Suzu May 7 2007, 09:57 PM

I know I did too <_<
It was just faster then me first time around and OHKO me.

And how dare you think Luc... Lu... The 4th guy is harder then Shirona! SHIRONA IS COOLER THEN EVERYONE.

Posted by: Sauce XIV May 7 2007, 10:24 PM

Lucian.

And how does cooler = harder?

Posted by: Fujibayashi Suzu May 7 2007, 10:28 PM

I meant harder. <_<;
She's harder AND cooler. 'Cause I OHKO all of Lucian's Pokemon. 'Cept his Bron... thing... Since it's resistant to Dragon. Punk.

Posted by: Lord Rasler May 8 2007, 02:18 AM

Wait, I didn't mean her>_> I meant the person who uses the Alakazam and what not. Thats the person that almost sent me packing>_<

Posted by: Fujibayashi Suzu May 8 2007, 02:38 AM

That'd be Lucian. <___<
He's easy. Easiest of the four. For me anyway.

Posted by: WhiteKnight May 10 2007, 10:39 PM

Where could I get a Leppa Berry? I need to begin farming those babies!

Posted by: Fujibayashi Suzu May 10 2007, 11:35 PM

I think it grows in the wild?
Or maybe it's from the Berry Master. I have like 18 right now, I planted 4 of them so 20 more coming up! ^o^

Posted by: Lord Rasler May 10 2007, 11:36 PM

I never really got into the whole berry thing. I only used then to get Milotic once.

Do berries even do anything of importance? If so..............

*eats berry*

Posted by: Dr Sturm May 11 2007, 12:01 AM

I have a good eighty or so Leppas, a few trees planted regularly. I believe you get them in the wild.

Posted by: Fujibayashi Suzu May 11 2007, 12:44 AM

Berries really are your friend, well if you don't want them for Poffins only a few are worth getting really.

The ones that cure Confusion are handy, and like I said, everyone loves Leppas. Since you can't buy Ethers/Elixers and there are only so many in the game.

Now only if there was a Rare Candy-Berry... xD

Wait, wait. Milotic needs a Berry? Huh?

Posted by: Dr Sturm May 11 2007, 12:47 AM

You can only get a Milotic by having a Feebas with maxed out Beauty.

Posted by: Fujibayashi Suzu May 11 2007, 12:48 AM

Wow. That uh. Sucks.
I can't find any Berries that even have high 'stats' in things. How can you max out those before hitting your limit of like... 10 Poffins?

Posted by: Dr Sturm May 11 2007, 12:50 AM

It's easier with Pokeblocks, but still doable with Poffins. You just have crappy berries.

Posted by: Fujibayashi Suzu May 11 2007, 12:55 AM

You mean migrate in a Feebas from the older versions? <_<

And yeah, I bet I do. I can't find any rare berries... Unless Lum counts. But I've never had the damned things grow more then 2 Berries and they take FOREVER.

Posted by: Dr Sturm May 11 2007, 01:15 AM

No, I mean migrate a Milotic.
And use more fertilizer. I finally tried some out, and god do I wish I had more than fifty pokedollars to my name right now, because it is godlike. And I'm out of Honey and still short a Munchlax. Maybe I should finally tackle the Elite Four. It has been nearly a hundred hours now...

Posted by: Fujibayashi Suzu May 11 2007, 01:34 AM

I don't like the fertilzer myself... =/
Since I can make them grow quicker but... I don't know how often to water them then. Or I could slow the growth... And stuff. I should try it sometime.

And yes. You should. I've beaten the Elite Four like 5 times now.

Posted by: Dr Sturm May 11 2007, 01:36 AM

You water them when the soil's not dark. Duh

Posted by: Fujibayashi Suzu May 11 2007, 01:51 AM

I meant when as in time-wise. I don't want to stare at my DS for hours to see when I have to water them. <_<

Posted by: Dr Sturm May 11 2007, 02:00 AM

That wouldn't work anyways. It's like a watched pot. You just come back every hour or two.

Posted by: Rhiannon May 11 2007, 02:18 AM

I beat the elite four 18 times and I'm growing berries SO YOU CAN'T SAY ANYTHING STURM

But still.....It hurts me to say this.....

Posted by: WhiteKnight May 12 2007, 02:17 PM

it was on the Chatot you get for a Buizel. >_<

Posted by: Leyviur May 12 2007, 03:22 PM

Anyone who wants Arceus/Shaymin/Darkrai/Manaphy, ask me. I'll get you one. Just get four throwaway Pokemon and I'll trade them to you.

I'm selling them on Ebay, but friends of mine who play Pokemon will get them free.

Posted by: WhiteKnight May 12 2007, 03:39 PM

Eh, all I want is Darkrai and a Garchomp. What piece4s of craptamasm do yuo want for it? Oh, and can they have Leppa Berries?

Posted by: Fujibayashi Suzu May 12 2007, 03:44 PM

Hey uh Leyviur. Curious here, their names are in katakana right?
'Cause if they're in English, they'd obviously be hacked. Since we don't have the event items over here to get them. <_<

I want legit ones so I feel more... Special? ._.
But I'd totally want a Darkrai. Or Arceus. Heck. Any of the events, even Shaymin.

Posted by: WhiteKnight May 12 2007, 03:46 PM

He could just give you the event item if you wanted it.

Posted by: Fujibayashi Suzu May 12 2007, 03:50 PM

Posted by: WhiteKnight May 12 2007, 03:52 PM

Attach it to a mon or something?

Posted by: Fujibayashi Suzu May 12 2007, 03:57 PM
