I've played all three, and really enjoyed all of them. I like the second one best, and three was a little 'meh', but they were all good for me. I spent way too much time on three, currently level 200-something after finishing a REALLY long optional dungeon.

1 and 2 are good, 3 is not for me......
They could have done a hell of a lot better with the battlesystem and other stuff, yeah. If it was SO2 style, it'd be one of my favourites. One thing I hate about SO3 though, was that gaining levels never really did -anything-, you had to rely on those stat boosts and new equipment to really be able to survive.
I was addicted to Star Ocean 3 for a while there. Clocked sixty hours into it so far, I'm trying to get back into it now so I can defeat the game, but I don't think I'll be restarting it. XD Need time.
Love SO2 to bits.

but i thought it was great, though. many objections from you guys, but i think the battle was fine. so was the graphics. the story is abit whacked and sounded like it came from a nightmare or a dream. but heck!! DAMN, Nel and Albel were HOT.

I loved the Star Ocean trilogies, even when I hate futuristic-like games, really. I liked it mainly because it was futuristic worlds clashing with old middle age-like ones...
I liked the first and second one because of the custom skills you could give them..the third one...they didnt really focus on that.

I like SO3, the battles are insanely fun. I won't be restarting it because its just SO MUCH and SO huge I don't have time for it. XD;; I have to finish other things... but I liked it.

I haven't played any of them yet, but I plan on buying SO2 soon. I may have to look into the first one as well... But I don't think I'll ever play SO3. I've watched people play it before and it just doesn't look fun at all.

why's that? i thought it was an okay game. for one, it has lots of skills. second it has good graphics.
Those do not in anyway make up for the horrible AI, the poor collision detection, the clunky interface, etc.

well, its sad. the game was good. but the AI was horrible. my comrades just seem to love wasting hp on useless skills, never seem to attack and use items like they were free.
plus, all to no avail. eventually they die anyways. i have to manipulate them :\

mine worked fine. no loading scenes in the middle of maps. my sword connecting to their asses usually means they're screwed. theres no item creation.

oh wait....i remember now!!! you had to make weapons and stuff so you can sell it.....i remember making some food and stuff like that. kinda fun.

I had problems with loading too, but then I realized oh hay, its my Playstation acting stupid. So I got another one (used!) and it works wonderfully. But its a bit hard to finish the game, I hate it when they throw puzzles at you in the last part of the game. I just want to finish!
I passed the Sphere 211 optional dungeon after beating the game, and I agree, the battle AI is ridiculous. I have to control my only effective healer (Sophia) manually just so my team can even survive. I set her on heal friends, or whatever, but what does she do? She goes and attacks the enemies in such a bloodthristy rage that would make even Luca Blight look like a timid guy.
AHAHAHA, yeah, Sophia I have as backup healing, if I ever want to heal I just use Fate. She can blow stuff up easier.
I like spamming Ethereal Strike with Fayt ^.^ So pretty...

dimension door and side kick were one of the best levelup skills that i got. right next to that explodey skill. i forgot waht it was called.
I think it was the Air Raid skill.
ah yeah. really nice damage while it lasted. then dimension door and Albel replaced it ^^
