The Elemental Etc. skill "Change". I've seen some claims that attacking a monster with a specific element will cause that monster to change to that element, but no one's done extensive testing. Someone should do extensive testing.

well from time to time I've noticed that those enemies change into a sub-type that I've recently used...gets very annoying when it changes into holy sub-type
...or maybe it was just my luck screwing me over... ~~~ I have another name...Aquamentis...

I've fought an elemental that started out physical and I hit it with Ein's diviner. It changed from physical to Dark on its next turn. Therefore, I can say that it is most likely completely random.
