Lacrima Castle _ Miscellaneous _ Myths and Legends

Posted by: Swiyth Dec 25 2005, 02:39 AM

okay, so basically, my favorite myths are either Roman or Greek. even Norse myths fill my tummy. so for an absolutely boring starter,

in Greek Myth, the Giants ruled the lands long before Gods did. they went around, doing this and that. but one day, the Gods came about and they sort of had a fight. the Giants were beaten and their kin slain. the Gods then took the corpse of the largest giant. they turned his body parts into what is this earth and his kin were forced underground (or somewhere).

so eventually, the Gods decided that they needed care takers for this new world they just created. and thus, the care takers were made.

Homosapiens were born. voila.

there are other myths for the creation of the world and the being of humans, but i'll leave those for later.

i'll probably find out more than i already know, and the names of Gods, familiar or not, will be popping about occasionally.

ah. yeah. sorry. silly mistake XD

its been four years since i last read that one subject. Myths still fascinate me, though.

what the hell?

Posted by: Swifty-chan Dec 25 2005, 03:14 PM

That's off-topic. And yeah, Norse and Greek myths can be fascinating sometimes.

But Zeus is just... weird.

Play Valkyrie Profile.

Posted by: Swiyth Dec 25 2005, 03:19 PM

Zeus is a horny old man who do young girls from earth. and, he's married like, a few hundred times.

well, not to mention, Hera was kinda bitchy, too.

Posted by: Swifty-chan Dec 25 2005, 03:23 PM

Bah, he kidnapped Ganymede too! A male!

But at the end, Gany just become his cupbearer.

XD

anyways,

Thor, the god of lightning. he is the son of Odin and has two other brothers, Loki and....and....Balder. ew. bald.

anyways, he wields his legendary hammer and goes around smiting foes with his hammer. nuff said bout it.

one story goes around that once, he had to dress up as a girl to get his hammer back. but that'll have to be for later ^^

ehh, all I remember is that Loki gave birth to Sleipnir or something, Odin's 6 legged horse... or something like that.

Posted by: Swiyth Jan 1 2006, 05:36 AM

.....Loki gave birth to a HORSE?! DARN that is weird.

Loki, God of mischief. Odin. God of Gods. Thor, God of Lightning. Balder was the god of beauty, i think.

Bald= beauty? ._.a

ew....Loki gave birth to a six legged horse.....freaky

Posted by: Liger Jan 1 2006, 09:18 PM

Yeah.... he gave birth to a horse with 6 legs...

Go look up Norse Mythology and find Sleipnir or just look up Sleipnir on Wikipedia, it should give you the story XDD

Achilles

said to be the strongest trojan fighter of them all. he was born when his mother, a god, married and screwed with a mortal man. they said his mother soaked him into some holy river water or some sort to make him invulnerable to any attack. she held him by the ankle, and dipped him in, thus, his ankle was the only part exposed to danger.

it was also the part which was shot by an arrow in battle and caused his death.

and voila. the part which was shot is now known as "the Achilles tendon"

strange, though. i always thought it was because Achilles was smart enough not to run into a sword.

... Balder and Loki reminds me of Ragnarok Online manhwa. ><'

Posted by: Swiyth Jan 3 2006, 08:04 AM

lol. their names were taken directly from the myths ^^''

that would mean Chaos and Loki are brothers, but, no. ._.

Ragnarok itself is a time in the bible and many other books that state the end of the world. where demon and gods and men clash with each other. here, you take sides and fight until either side is obliterated.

another would be Armegeddon. the end of the world. many have predicted when it would come, even the year 200 was marked as the year of Armageddon. it never came, offcourse.

most games and comics usually take stuff from myths and legends because they sound good. though Balder is kind of a gay name.....Bald-er.

hey, dudes!!! i'm balder!!

no you're not!! i'm balder!!

what the hell? ._.

Posted by: Swifty-chan Jan 3 2006, 08:51 AM

Well, this may sound dumb... but what's the differences between Greek and Norse mythology?

I mean, what are their stories? I always got both myths mixed up ><'

Posted by: Swiyth Jan 3 2006, 09:14 AM

um.....er.............erm..................>_< i don't know, either.

but Greek gods are like Zeus, prometheus, blah blah blah.

Norse Gods are like Odin, Thor, blah blah blah.

i think ._.

Posted by: Raijinili Jan 3 2006, 04:20 PM

Ragnarok is the final battle between the Norse gods and evil. The gods lose.

Apocalypse (Greek for "Revelation") is the end of the Christian world. Of course, Jesus being all whatnot, the Christians and some Jews win.

Posted by: Swiyth Jan 4 2006, 08:38 AM

mmhmm.

during the apocalypse, they said that a demon, i forgot his name, will take everyone and give them a Mark Of The Beast. anyone without this mark cannot buy anything. obviously, that means you need to convert to buy stuff. thats so bullshit...

but anyways, anyone who decides not to get the Mark Of The Beast, takes lots and lots of supplies for say....the next seven years?

i forgot the details about this, but i think its about that...not neccesarily right, though.
