Lacrima Castle _ Other Games _ If you can't figure this out, I have nothing to say to you.

No, its not Disgaea.

Posted by: Dr Sturm Jul 2 2008, 08:00 PM

I hope it's not Chrono Trigger, but merely a new entry in the series that also abbreviates to CT.
For three reasons:
-Chrono Trigger on DS is stupid.
-I'd rather play a new game.
-Then I can laugh at you all.

Posted by: Yuka Jul 2 2008, 08:01 PM

I didn't like Chrono Trigger. Therefore, I too hope it's something else.

Posted by: Rhiannon Jul 2 2008, 08:03 PM

If it's not Phantom Brave, it's not worth it.

what.

I'll admit it's severely overrated, but still.

Anyway, it was confirmed to be Chrono Trigger. I lost the scan picture I had of it.

I never played Chrono Trigger. I guess I'll try it out to see what all the fuss is about.

They need to at least bump the difficulty up.

Chrono Trigger is one of the easiest RPGs ever.

- I have lost all of my respect for you, Sauce.

- HI PPA

This is now a REAL reason to buy a DS. The only problem is the money.

No it's not. The only reason to buy a DS is the Rub Rabbits series. Everyone has already played Chrono Trigger - it's boring.

Don't listen to Sauce.

CT is awesome.

Posted by: Irysa Jul 5 2008, 10:09 PM

Chrono Trigger is decent.

It's pretty likely that if you have fun with jrpgs in general you'd like it to some extent.

It is overrated though. Maybe Sauce was just expecting more.

Posted by: Rhiannon Jul 6 2008, 03:05 AM

I could never really get into it.

Posted by: Lord Rasler Jul 6 2008, 03:12 AM

I've never played it either. I never well.

As shallow and retarded as this may sound: I refuse to play games with that kind of art design. Wait...

I mean with the whole DBZ looking characters.

Posted by: Leyviur Jul 6 2008, 06:00 AM

I played it during my DBZ phase (that is to say, when I was in fifth grade), so it was the greatest thing ever at the time. FF3 + DBZ? YES.

It's not truly innovative in any way, but it's just the way that they made it, CT is greater than the sum of its parts.

Posted by: Deadelus Jul 6 2008, 07:11 AM

DBZ and CT have the same designer, so that is why they are so cool for that time and age... (I think it was like 6 or 7 years ago :P)

And there are also the "Cut scenes" for the playstation version :P

No to mention the many many many possible endings for the game (Can't even remember the exact number)
XD

Well...

I just hope the it's some kind of sequel and not a remake.

And if is a remake then I'll pass on that...

I'd rather buy "UNO" than playing a remake

Trailer's up.

Posted by: Archeia Jul 8 2008, 03:39 AM

An amateur looking trailer, 40$ for a ported game with the added functionality of only one dungeon.

No thanks.

Posted by: Leyviur Jul 8 2008, 06:17 AM

We did the same for Riviera though.

Posted by: Archeia Jul 8 2008, 08:34 AM

But Riviera has full voice acting, jello sprites, more cg things etc. etc.
Unless it's the special edition I don't know what it has :P

Posted by: Leyviur Jul 8 2008, 09:30 AM

The sprites sucked, the extra dungeon was terrible, and the extra CGs were mostly useless. Did we really need an extra CG of Lina and Serene fighting? No. It was ridiculous.

Full voice acting, I can give you that. But in the grand scheme of things, none of the things you listed were worth $40 anyway.

Posted by: Irysa Jul 8 2008, 10:35 AM

Riviera isn't as old as Chrono Trigger, and Sting are a MUCH smaller company compared to Square Enix.

You'd expect more out of them, but most people believe they effed up the FF3 and 4 remakes too.

Posted by: Leyviur Jul 8 2008, 02:27 PM

I don't see how age matters.

And whoever said they fucked up FF3 and FF4 are idiots.

Posted by: aerozero Jul 8 2008, 11:16 PM

Riviera had new bath scenes =P

If the game is older, it stands to reason an update of it should be better than merely one that was released last gen surely?

Posted by: Leyviur Jul 9 2008, 04:05 AM

All of Nintendo's GBA Mario games disagree.

Posted by: Irysa Jul 9 2008, 05:30 AM

Nintendo are the masters of rehash though. I think everybody just got used to that.

Yeah, and?... i do not see any difference between it and the version of SNES... and FF3&4 is the best readaptation that I played of this saga...

Posted by: chrishawke Jul 10 2008, 05:39 AM

I don't mind giving CT another playthrough. It's always had a soft spot during childhood.

No it didn't. RiviPSP has the same two bath scenes that both the GBA and WSC versions had.

New bath scene CGs >_>

Extra Chapter was okay. I wonder why Ein wasn't surprised to see Ledah when you choose him though.

Looking forward to Chrono Trigger DS. Never played any other versions, so I might as well get this.

Now that I have a PSP I could FINALLY play RiviPSP. And yeah, the graphics, high-res character portraits aside, are pretty cheap. They're more or less just the old backgrounds and sprites upscaled and blurred. Which is especially a shame since the PSP has such a beautiful, crystal-clear screen. LOOK AT EIN'S ARMS IN HIS VICTORY POSE I MEAN SERIOUSLY

Posted by: Yuka Jul 13 2008, 08:09 PM

It's only like that because it's new.

Posted by: Leyviur Jul 13 2008, 08:54 PM

Get a screen protector.

Anyone who has a PSP and doesn't is a fag.

I travel a lot. It's hazardous.

If you're going to use this as a pedestal to say how screen protectors aren't necessary, then don't. Not everyone needs to adhere to your idiotic standards.

I was making fun of the fact that of all the systems to do a remake, they choose the DS.

Posted by: aerozero Jul 14 2008, 08:08 AM

I liked the 3D fan remake, and then Square shut him down :(

Posted by: P.P.A. Jul 14 2008, 09:15 AM

Why are you posting this in multiple topics?

Posted by: P.P.A. Jul 15 2008, 03:15 PM

I just found out 3 screen protector foils came with my PSP, how handy! There's one major problem though. Bubbles. SO now IÄm looking for an alternative, and have come across 2 thinsg that caught my eye.
THis Invisible Shield foil that covers our whole PSP: http://www.zagg.com/invisibleshield/sony-psp-slim-cases-screen-protectors-covers-skins-shields.php
And this thing, a transparent plastic case also encasing all of the handheld: http://www.nuritech.us/sony-psp-slim-amp-lite-system-skin-case.html
EDIT: Oh wait, that thing doesn't protect the screen too? Boo!

Anyone tried these? Would you suggest them?

Posted by: Raijinili Jul 24 2008, 04:37 AM

Because it was relevant in multiple topics.

Posted by: aerozero Jul 24 2008, 05:23 AM

I recommend getting this PPA.

http://www.gameshome.com.sg/images/others/slimpouch.jpg

It protects the screen pretty well and still fits in your pocket. I've used it since I got my fat PSP back in the day and it works for me.

Posted by: Vahn Sep 13 2010, 03:05 AM

I'd rather have a PSP rerelease/remake of Chrono Cross.
