Full Version: Dept. Heaven Villains.
Lacrima Castle > Sting Games > Dept. Heaven

I have been thinking about it and I think the villains of D.H. don't get enough spotlight.
Such as Hector and Nessiah. They barely got that much time in the game, but they payed off with epic battles.
Miki Trie'
Isn't it like one of those things like;

Superb bosses but not enough exposure, and then unimportant mini bosses that you run into most of the time?

So, isn't it about the same?
Hayashi Tenshi
I think Hector should have got way more spotlight than, Graham.
Dr Strum
Neither Hector nor Nessiah had "epic" battles. YU (naturally) ran out of steam after the Brongaa Knight Gulcasa battle, and Riviera peaked with the Isher.
Hayashi Tenshi
I think Vinya has a more epic battle than, Melad Margus. I thought Melad Margus was easy.
Miki Trie'
Yet some people just stick to the story board, and don't care if they battle against villians seeing as it's an obstacle so that their goal to finish the game.
Hayashi Tenshi
Doesn't it seem like Hector was more of a villain than those twins I believe Sage and Fool? I believe they got more attention than Hector.
Miki Trie'
But, aren't there usually characters like that in long video games?

I don't think so. But I think like the main villain deserves ALOT of attention.
Miki Trie'
But the main villians always tend to have something malicious up their sleeve, so don't they want to be hidden?

I mean, they could have showed more events for them. In KITN, Capehorn got a lot of scenes!
Miki Trie'
But I mean, Hector has plans for making Grim Angels, and Nessiah is preparing things for Ancardia, but watching everything at the same time. So, they're occupied enough right?

They should be occupied with showing off there faces.
Miki Trie'
But, if Hector would've shown more, the suspense and fun for Riviera would be cut short right....? Whereas if Nessiah showed more, it would've been hard to hide the truth seeing that any hint is hard to cover up, and that there wasn't a good place to put him?

They should have showed at least cut scenes of him like because the people always referred to a wandering magician.
Yuka
It's not in Sting's method to use cutscenes during actual games. Usually.

I have actually quite noticed. The story is like in the protagonists point of view.
Dr Strum
The narrative would have suffered if the enemies were shown more in Riviera and Yggdra Union. Kitten was a different type of story, not to mention a more complicated story that necessitated the extra scenes featuring the enemies. This topic is beyond stupid.
Rhiannon
I dunno man, Isher was a pretty boring fight.

I would like to see more of Nessiah's backstory in a game (because it's kind of interesting, at least assuming what I've read about it is true as it came from someone I don't trust), but it would seem out of place for it to suddenly be explored in YU. I mean, he's basically some random creepy guy as far as you know, until the moment before you fight him. And, of course, you almost never see things from other perspectives in YU.

I've seen enough of Hector though. I'm tired of him showing up in every game just to say something that might as well be irrelevant. He probably doesn't even HAVE a backstory if he's shown up this many times and we've heard not even a hint. :(

Kitten's was fine though, in my opinion. Although the second to last boss battle is clearly the superior battle when it comes to epic...ness.

I didn't mean the fight itself was good, I meant that the fight was pretty much the climax, and most of Riviera following Chapter II was... Dull.

Definitely. But that's different from showing him all throughout the damn game. What could have happened was Kirie, when discussing how she saw his past, well, she could have actually discussed his past.

I think they should have at least made his own game or something.
Yuka
I'm against a Nessiah-orientated game just because it would please really annoying fangirls.

I didn't know Nessiah had that much fan girls.
Rhiannon
Even my brother is a Nessiah fangirl.
Miki Trie'

Seriously?!
Hayashi Tenshi
How can a brother be a fangirl? Being a brother is male, and a girl is female, so that is not possible.
Raijinili
If you squeal at hearing his voice, you're a fangirl.

That is me.
San Aurora
IIRC. Feral, MewMewArrow, and Desu (maybe) were pretty big Nessiah fangirls.
Personally, I don't really understand character fanboy/girlism. They're just drawings.

That being said, Kylier is pretty hot.
Dr Strum
QUOTE

Wow, wrong.
Mona Lisa is a drawing. Characters in a story are... Just that. Characters. They have delineated personalities and histories.
San Aurora
I defintely understand admiration or connection to fictional characters, but I don't believe in fanboy worship of them. I suppose I'm a bit of a reality whore.
Dr Strum
And that's why your avatar displays a photo of you and your username is just your real name.
Right?
San Aurora
Of course not, but I don't think that Deathstroke is the most epic sexy mastermind ever. I could only think that about someone I've spoken to. I have limits for my respect of characters.
jcdietz03
Well, Riviera focuses on the main characters, mostly.

Yggdra Union focuses on the enemies mostly. There a ton of enemy characters - about three times as many as player characters. Some are more developed than others. Just count the number of appearances and you get an idea of who is more important in the story.

Knights focuses on the enemy almost exclusively. Most of the cutscenes have neither Maria nor the King in them (the main characters). The Knights (from the title) have a lot of scenes, but for some reason their stories are not very memorable.
Dr Strum
QUOTE

Falsch. Maria and the King appear in at least half of them; the flashbacks they rarely appear in, but at least the King is in a cutscene before almost every battle.
Hayashi Tenshi
The Mehse barely appear. I think they are important to.
Dr Strum
They served no purpose beyond lengthening the game.

I am too thanks to Feral! >:
